This Volvo S40 came in with DPF faults! It appeared to have been cleaned at some stage as a few pipes had been routed incorrectly and there was NO soot in or around the filter... but we know on these vehicles the only way to properly clean them is to remove them and use our flash cleaner because the problem with these engines is not soot accumulation but a build up of additive (brown sludge in the pictures), this additive congeals into a thick mud like consistency which reduces exhaust gas flow. Using our Carbon Clean flash cleaner we can 99% remove this build up returning the dpf back to as new💪 Once the filter was cleaned & refitted we refilled the additive tank and reset the vehicle ecu. We had this Ford Transit Custom in today from @theopenplanbuildingco for a dpf clean and diagnostics. The van was in limp mode continually due to the dpf being blocked... initial diagnostics flagged up an implausible back pressure reading of 606000inhg which equates to 297639psi!!! Audi A3 collected with a severely blocked dpf... it was so badly blocked that the pressure pipe exploded between the dpf and sensor! This explosion blew a hole through the rocker cover, intake pipes and melted some wiring!!! We repaired all of those items, carried out our patented Terraclean dpf clean before starting the vehicle again... it turned out that it had been an ongoing failure which had also resulted in the turbo failing! As you can see from the pictures the actual impeller had melted! We arranged to have the turbo reconditioned, once everything was stripped down we cleaned all the parts to remove the soot/oil build up, once the turbo was returned everything was put back together before a good long road test to ensure everything was functioning correctly. #ford #cmax in for #dpf fault... been elsewhere and been diagnosed as turbo! Had a new turbo fitted for £700!!! Fault was still there... then diagnosed as #egr fault.... yep... new egr supplied and fitted for £280!!! Fault still there🤦‍♂️ His friend told him to call us for a proper diagnosis... live data showed the exhaust/dpf flow rate of 115m3/h instead of the recommended 500+m3/h indicating ash accumulation causing the restriction! We quickly had the dpf removed and booked in for an off site clean at @terracleanuk Once returned this vehicle will be good as new and ready to cover another 100k miles.
