Kryptonite is a mix of VERY addictive candy and ghost catnip.
One day, Danny and a few ghosts were hanging around in Superman's city. Nothing harmful, just goofing off.
Eventually, they get hungry. But not for human food. Not even Danny.
Suddenly a villain attacks.
Superman and several Batfam members show up to fight the villain. Sadly, the villain opened the back door of the truck he showed up in and a metric TON of Kryptonite was inside!
Suddenly, ALL of the ghosts jerk their heads towards the truck like cats who smell catnip.
Nightwing, sensing their odd looks and having a hunch (the heroes know about the ghosts. They and JLD helped stop the Guys in White. Ghosts now have rights and are treated like people.), tells them, "Go for it. 🤷🏻‍♀️"
The ghosts leap into the truck with happy, yelping, chirps, ignoring the protests of the villain.
They, like Dick thought/was hoping for, starts CHOWING DOWN on the rocks like they are rock candy.
The villain tries to stop them, but the ghosts then start playing with him like a cat with a ball. (Danny, despite being half-human, is just as out of it as the full ghosts.)

Ghost Concept: ghosts don't smell like anything (similarly, they also can't smell anything) but they can evoke the memory of a scent to other people.
It's a reaction caused by their own emotional output, and the smell is determined by:
What emotion the ghost is feeling
The ghost's happiest memories tied to the emotion
For Example: when Danny is happy, he evokes the smell of wet grass (specifically when it's in the morning or late at night, when it's cooled down enough for precipitation to form), dirt, and laminated poster paper.
(because you can pry outdoorsy danny from my cold dead hands--)
Sometimes the scent can change depending on the environment or setting that causes the emotion. If Danny is in a winter/snow setting, the wet grass smell changes accordingly.
If he's sad and hurt, he smells like playground asphalt and woodchips, and sometimes, just faintly, of oxidized metal.
When Ember's happy, she evokes the scent of oxidized guitar strings, but also guitar polish and sheet paper.
And the stronger the emotion is, the stronger the memory is.
Because Vlad's Mansion is a castle, there's a huge amount of rooms and hallways. Most of which are all unused. The Servant's Quarters and Hallways were Danny's favorite places to explore because Vlad didn't ever go there. Mostly because that was one of Danny's conditions for not running away from the mansion the whole summer.
It was the best place to set up the security base. Sure, it was a little far from the ballroom and the throne room, but that didn't matter because ghosts and go through walls. Besides, it was the ideal location for both Danny and Dani's chosen bedrooms as well as anyone or thing they didn't want Vlad to see.
The Servant's Quarters took up the entire East Wing of the castle, sitting directly above the kitchens and laundry room with prime access to the back gardens. The wing itself was only three floors tall, but it was perfect for the use of the Fenton siblings. Sure, they had rooms in the West Wing with Vlad, but they only every used those whenever they weren't the only visitors in the castle. Perfect Family and all that.
The top two floors of the Servant's Quarters were bedrooms, four on each floor with two showers and toilets. The third floor, the one directly above the kitchens, was a communal living space with a small library, another bathroom, a fireplace, two office spaces, and plenty of sitting places. The office closest to the spiral stairs down into the kitchens is where Skulker, Walker, and Fright Knight set up their home/security base for the night. All the Realms Beings in attendance were able to access it, but it was in the one area of the building that not even the building's owner was allowed.
Because he's a psychopomp, Danny has access to both the Rules of Hospitality and Rule of Invitation. Invitation dictates that an undead being, specifically a vampire, needs permission to enter an area. Barring Vlad from the Servant's Quarters means that he can't go in there under any circumstances unless invited in by Danny.
Vlad was never a perfect Halfa, but he is still a Halfa, meaning that he has access to the same rules as Danny and Dani. Because he didn't send out the invitations, the gala attendees have no way of actually entering the castle. That is, unless, Danny can successfully trick Vlad into thinking that he did invite those people.
There's a loophole in everything. One just has to be smart enough to find and exploit it for all it's worth without getting caught. Magick is funny that way. Dangerous, but funny.
While everyone was off finish up their last little things before the gala, Danny was in charge of keeping Vlad out of the ballroom and kitchens, as well as tricking him. Normally Dani, the trickster spirit that she is, would usually be the one to deceive people, but she was with the other three kids, so it was Danny's job.
Who's idea was it to not let the tricksters do the tricking? Don't answer that.
Invisible and silent as the dead, Danny floated through the wall into Vlad's room. He had just over two hours before he woke up, so he had to be fast.
First, he set out Vlad's suit on the chair in front of the mirror in the corner of the room. The same way he'd been made to do the night before the other parties he'd been forced into attending with Vlad over the years he'd known him. Shoes, suit, tie, and jacket were all ready to be put on.
Next, he changed Vlad's alarm to go off an hour earlier, shortening the amount of time he and the others had to set up. Whenever they were to attend some kind of socialite party, Vlad always woke up an hour earlier than normal, "To have more time to prepare.". If Danny didn't know any better, he'd think that Vlad hated these parties almost as much as he did.
No matter how many times Vlad had tried to get Danny to wake up early, Danny always made it a point to sleep in an extra hour. So, he had a whole hour to kill with Dani and the kids as long as he wasn't caught out of his room. So, after prepping a quick meal of lunch, also something that Vlad did the night before party days, Danny hid a duplicate of himself to sleep in his room before going ghost to stalk Vlad.
The second the clock turned over to eight, Vlad's alarm rang. A shrill noise that grated on Danny's nerves, but it got the job done, waking Vlad. He grumbled, turning off the alarm and standing up and stretching.
Danny watched as Vlad took stock of the time, an hour earlier than normal, and the suit set out in his dressing corner. It was one of his fancier ones. Whiter than a sheet ghost in a haunted house with black cuffs and collar, red silk lining the inside of the jacket, and a darker red silk shirt.
"What in the world..?" Vlad muttered before turning to his calendar.
Skulker had taken care of altering all of Vlad's calendars, making sure to have marked the event last night just after Vlad had gone to sleep. Good thing, too, because Danny had almost completely forgotten about all of Vlad's digital and physical calendars. He'd marked his own, though, and Dani's, so Vlad couldn't prove any tampering with them.
A little frantic now, Vlad rushed into is en suite to shower and get ready for the day. The suit remained where it had been laid out, though Danny wasn't too worried. They'd change an hour or so before the actual party.
Danny retreated to the room he'd been given a few doors down from Vlad, where he'd left his duplicate to sleep. Another thing Vlad did the night before parties was have Danny and Dani and whoever else was in the castle at the time sleep in their rooms in the West Wing. It was to trick anyone who wandered up there that they were all civil enough with each other to sleep in the same general area.
Danny hated some of the rules that were enforced, but he was so glad that Jazz had gotten them all written down in a contract. She'd claimed Fae Rules and everyone agreed and signed.
Exactly as the clock struck nine, Vlad knocked on Danny's door. He ignored the knocking, as he usually did, and waited for Vlad to come in and force him awake.
This was a lot of fun. He understands the kids a bit more now.
"Daniel. Daniel, wake up!" There wasn't a lock on the door, another condition Vlad had about this particular wing, so he was quick to come in and pull the blankets off of Danny. "We're hosting a party tonight, get up!"
Well, that was easier than he first expected. Forcing himself to be sluggish, Danny yawned. "Huh? Oh, yeah. That." He turned over so that his back was to his godfather. "Another hour, 'kay?"
Vlad huffed. "No, Daniel, right this instant! Get ready and meet me for breakfast in the dining room. There's much to do still." Then, he left.
This was suspicious. This was going way too according to plan. Something was bound to happen, but what and when?
The ballroom, he realized. Vlad would want to check every little detail, starting with the ballroom and moving out as the hired staff for the night arrived.
Quickly, Danny turned invisible and headed to the ballroom to meet Dani and the kids. Being trickster spirits, they had the ability to trick peoples senses with different types of illusions. As they got older and grew into their powers, they'd get stronger. Dani was the strongest of the four of them, so covering the whole ballroom would be easy, but he had no idea how she would test against Vlad's scrutiny.
"Dani!" he hissed hen he popped through the ceiling. The ballroom had two floors to it, one of them being just a balcony.
"Danny!" Youngblood and Box Lunch cheered, rushing up to meet him with hugs. Poindexter and Dani soon followed after.
"Looking great in here, guys," he complimented. And it really was. Despite them all technically being kids, the place looked like a professional team had taken care of it. Ignoring, of course, the coexisting themes of space and pirates. He needed to accessorize to match. He'll ask Desiree to help with that.
"Thanks!" Poindexter grinned, "Space pirates was the only thing we could agree on."
"That's because we watched Treasure Planet last night," Box Lunch said.
"Are you complaining?" Youngblood asked, "You're the one who suggested it!"
Danny laughed. "I like it, guys. Though, this wasn't the theme on the invites. It'll look bad if we suddenly change things."
"You wanted us to make Vlad look good?" Dani scoffed, "Besides, there wasn't any theme written on the invites. And, if you remember, the answer you gave to every question about a theme was 'The dress code is business casual'."
Danny rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, I did do that."
"What'd you even come here for, anyway? You're supposed to be watching Vlad."
"Oh!" he hit his palm with his fist, "You guys have to make this look like something Vlad would do."
"What?!" they all shouted.
"Just cover it all with an illusion! He's gonna wanna check everything before anyone arrives. I'll keep him as distracted as I can so that he doesn't realize, but I can't make illusions."
"Yeah, yeah," Dani agreed, "We'll get right on it. Now, go. You've been here long enough."
"Right," he said, "Thanks, guys! See you later!"
"Bring snacks tomorrow!"
Danny laughed but agreed. Heading back to his room, he officially got ready for the day before heading down to the dining room to meet Vlad.
Small Danny Phantom theory that I have: Ghosts have a different color language to humans. Many of the Ghost Zone's most powerful, dangerous, feared, and malevolent denizens have green eyes and coloration. Meanwhile, some of the most passive and harmless ghosts have red eyes and coloration. So I tend to think that according to ghost color language, red means good (or harmless) while green means evil (or danger more generally).

do you have any headcanons about non-human ghosts/ghosts that originate from the ghost zone? like behemoth and the ectopusses and other creatures like that?
I do, in extensive detail! I like to think that creature-ghosts were actually once a part of the human world, physical manifestations of natural forces and other living things or magical myths and legends that gained some kind of form.
But as time went on and people developed the land or stopped believing in them, their power weakened, so they moved to the Ghost Zone—basically just another universe where physical dimensions don't exist and everything exists as energy—to keep from dying out altogether. Some return to the human world every now and then because, hey, home is home, but they don't stay very long.
I applied this concept to Frostbite's people in Chapter 11 "Syndis" of Familiar:
[Vlad] scoffed. “It’s no wonder you simple-minded savages died out.”
[...]
Danny’s head swiveled back and forth. “Wait, what’s he talking about? Who died? And what’s a yetnar?”
Invisible weight settled on Frostbite’s shoulders. “That is the name of my people.” He lowered his heavy frame onto one of the benches, thick tail curling on the floor. “We had many names once. Thurs, risi, jötunn. We were forces of nature, earth spirits, guardians of the hidden places. We kept to ourselves, caring for the earth, weaving poems and magic.”
“Whoa, hang on a sec. You mean you’re from my world?”
“The Norwegians called them trolls,” Vlad muttered, waddling over to an adjacent bench and plopping down. “The Tibetans, yeti. Nearly every culture on earth has its own iteration. You can tell they’re not normal ghosts by the color of their spectral radiance.”
Danny blinked. Vlad was right. Instead of the typical white glow that human entities emitted, Frostbite and Eisvin glowed blue. Danny felt painfully stupid for not noticing it sooner.
“This is true,” Frostbite admitted. “We are not normal ghosts, for we were never living flesh.”
“So how does that work?” Danny slid into the vacant spot beside him. “How can something not living be killed off?”
“Our powers came from the earth, young one. From all living things. As time went on and humans progressed, the forests shrank. Animals retreated or disappeared altogether. Science and technology prevailed. Instead of living in harmony with nature, men and their machines soon dominated everything. We became few and weak. The magic that sustained us dwindled as centuries passed, and eventually we had no choice but to come here, the realm of ghosts, or face our own extinction.” He tilted his head back to stare up into the mountain’s dark crown. “It’s not much of an existence, but it’s better than fading away.”
So I headcanon that the ectopusses were probably some kind of sea monster, Behemoth was the physical embodiment of an ancient curse (protecting the Skeleton Key), and beings like Vortex, Undergrowth, Nocturne et al were probably ancient proto-deities of the weather and agriculture and sleep/dreams.
Walker’s wife. What was she like? How did they first meet? Does Walker miss her?
She was the most amazing and kindest woman you’d ever met. Created by @amityparkhalfa and I, this Walker’s wife, Rosalie. They met at their college’s debate club in which she gave the strongest counterpoint towards the cowboy’s argument on a topic regarding law enforcement or death penalty in the U.S. He’d would lose that debate, but Walker gained an immense admiration for her wit and tenacity ever since. Which formed into a deep love for each other that we like to think transcends even in death. I have some old art of her based on our old rps but it’s about time I shared about her.
But these are the most recent as of this year.
Though I need to get around to drawing her as an actual ghost or what she would look like if she was stuck in the zone without anyone to keep her grounded like Walker is currently dealing with (at least to me).
