adopt spencer

luke has been watching spencer off and on across the bullpen for hours with a sort of annoyed-fondness. the kid was nice, but he always made luke feel inadequate (he knew it wasn’t on purpose, he was probably the most humble guy he’d met so far). the kid was also an outlandishly fast reader. luke was fairly sure the only thing spencer did faster than he talked was read. it was basicially his life mission, it seemed, to read everything. (he never understood who would need to read 20000 words a minute until he net him.)

finally, getting tired of the computer, he got up and made a cup of coffee, tro, actually, one for him – black, two creams, and spencer’s hellish sugar monster of a coffee. heading back over to the desks, he set the cup down. tara was out on custodials, and jj was – who knew were, actually, probably with garcia. 

the team was nice, in their own ways, and he did feel welcome (even by garcia, despite her insistence on him being the ‘newb’. he set the other agents coffee down on his desk, careful to avoid setting it anything. “does it bother you?” luke asked, settling down in the chair of jj’s desk, “when we’re just sitting around doing nothing?” 

luke alvez was a go-go-go type of person. patience and waiting and desk work? – it wasn’t him. he watched the other, curiously. it seemed to be spencer’s speed though. the kid was great in the field (he’d heard stories of the kid’s various take-downs) but he seemed a much slower paced type of person. but who knew, right?
