here's my brother's kitty :)
AN AMAZING CAT
What is the interaction between Dovescape and creature cards with the Bestow mechanic? I assume I can play them as creatures just fine, but can I equip them as auras without them being countered? Thank you, and I hope you feel better soon!
A spell isn’t cast until all choices have been made for it and its costs have been paid. What this means for cards with Bestow is that they’re no longer creatures by the time they’re cast. Since they’re non-creature spells, they’ll trigger Dovescape and get countered, poofing into a cloud of birds.

Enchantment
Whenever a player casts a noncreature spell, counter that spell. That player creates X 1/1 white and blue Bird creature tokens with flying, where X is the spell’s converted mana cost.
This is one of those cards that does nothing but bring chaos to the table, usually for the better! It’s just a funny card in general, though it can just shut down a lot of decks, too.
With every noncreature spell cast, its controller makes birds equal to the CMC. This means that the only way to get rid of this card is a) a creature with enchantment removal on it, b) a pre-existing permanent with enchantment removal, c) an uncounterable spell, or d) whatever lands there are with access to enchantment removal. All things considered, this is a very narrow set of cards that can oust this one. But hey, it’s symmetrical, right?
The obvious thing with symmetrical effects here is to build your deck or time your play in such a way that you have a distinct advantage. Play out all your noncreature spells first before casting this, or simply play this in a deck with mostly creatures to begin with. Or better yet, put this in a deck that wants to be running birds! The recently released Akim, the Soaring Wind is a prime example of a deck that can get a lot of mileage out of this card. Make a whole bunch of birds and then swing in, pumping them with double strike goodness! Kangee, Aerie Keeper is another prime example, but be a bit more cautious there. Kangee’s effect is also symmetrical, meaning that everybody’s birds are getting pumped, not just yours.
Again, symmetrical effects like these can be an absolute hindrance to your opponents. While a lot of them may think it’s funny, the spells decks out there most certainly won’t. For that matter, this card makes it so that players aren’t even able to cast their planeswalker commanders! If you’re going to play this card for the intent of it being fun, make sure it’s on a board where it’s fun for everybody. If you want to intentionally screw people over though? Knock yourself out!
This card is fairly underrated, overall. Its effect is weird, but that’s what adds to the chaos! If you play this card, make sure everybody’s gonna have fun with it! Or don’t. Your call, in the end!

Wait, you get Birds AND your spell? (Also, poll question)
I’ve been working on a Dovescape/Narset deck and also a Taigam Heroic deck, and until tonight simply didn’t one and one (these two cards) together.
Dovescape’s first sentence ends with “counter that spell.” The next sentence, which say to put out Bird tokens equal to the spell’s converted mana cost, doesn’t actually check if the spell was countered. Thus, when Taigam says that Instants and Sorceries can’t be countered by spells or abilities, you become “immune” (as far as Instants, Sorceries, and Creatures go) to the first sentence of Dovescape. So as long as it isn’t a Planeswalker or Enchantment, you can still cast your spells and get Bird tokens, though your opponents can only cast creatures. There are other spells and such you can also cast that can’t be countered, but the best part of this is that even if you get Taigam after Dovescape is out, Dovescape lets him resolve. Well, and that he rebounds your spell, so you can cast it again and still get more Bird tokens on your next turn. You can have your spell and eat Bird, too! ...Or whatever it is people say.
In other news, I am looking into the option of creating a Patreon to support this blog, as currently it is a hobby and thus fairly low on the totem pole of priorities. I’m thinking about simply allowing Patrons early access, with normal posts having a 24 hour headstart to Patrons and anything with newly released cards or previews being available either a week later or at the time of the release of the product (really looking forward to Battlebond, btw). I have about 175 followers on Tumblr, so I’m very interested in your thoughts (yes, yours!) and such regarding this option. It should allow me to do more posts and be more in-depth (and make sure I get every card mentioned in the tags), etc, but means there would be a bit of time before you see my posts (though the ability to focus more on posts should mean there is still a fairly steady stream of them, except during preview season). So please, if you’re a fan of what I’m doing with this blog, let me know if you think it’s worth going from a hobby to something more.
