In 2013, this “actually nice” guy said I looked older than my age (30) and accused me of lying. So he put me down twice. When I brought it up this year (2018), he blocked me. 

The time has come! We are now beginning the casting process for the world premiere concert of "GRINDR The Opera". The concert will take place sometime in April at a Manhattan venue to be determined. We are not holding auditions, but casting from the pool of people with whom our team is personally familiar. The casting triumvirate consists of Writer/Producer Erik Ransom ("Coming: A Rock Musical of Biblical Proportions), Director Rachel Klein ("Around the World in 80 Days") and Music Director/Arranger Charles Czarnecki ("Jersey Boys", "Get Got").

If you would like to be considered for the concert, the team will presently be accepting video submissions for review. Please send us a video of yourself singing a song (or songs) that displays your vocal range and style. As this musical has operatic influences, we are most interested in hearing your 'Legit' sound. (Think more Les Miz than La Boheme.) The opera also has strong pop and rock influences, so if you have selections in either of those genres we would like to review those as well. This is a paid gig, with a stipend to be determined.

We are seeking the following: 

JACK - High pop tenor, with a strong lowrange also. Must live comfortably at the top of the staff and sustain a Bb.Physical type: slender twink (Should play 18-22 onstage). Any ethnicity. Jack is a fearless, sexual adventurer with a submissive streak and a predilection for ‘raw’ sex. He is also a waiter.

TOM - Baritenor who can sustain an A. 20’s - 30’s. Caucasian. Physical type: Average. Tom is practiced Grindr-user, seeking no-stringshook-ups. He has a pragmatic take on the options Grindr offers, which meanshe’s something of a cynic, but he doesn’t want to be. He is an actor.

DON - Bass-Baritone who can sustain a G. 50’s or older.Caucasian. Physical type: Any. Don is a DL Daddy with a wife and kids who knownothing of his gay exploits. He is a conservative politician who does not identify at all with the gay community. Grindr offers him conquests, which ultimately riddle him with guilt.

The Spirit of GRINDR - Soprano who belts. Female/Transwoman/Drag Queen. Must have legit soprano chops, while also beingable to belt out a pop tune here and there. Physical type: Any. Grindr is a preternatural force who has walked the Earth under different guises since time immemorial. She is the one who pulls the strings, throughout the opera, though she genuinely loves each of the men above and seeks to give them what they desire. The outcomes vary.
