I don’t think either of them would believe that MC truly switched sides. They would all think that something is up and would want to find out what, although that doesn’t mean that it won’t sting a bit. They would try to not blow MC’s cover but they would be grumpy about it.

Atin would know right away that something was wrong and they would be pissed off that MC didn’t tell them the plan. They would use their agency contacts to find out what’s up.

Roga would feel a little bit betrayed, but mostly because MC didn’t trust them enough to tell them their plan. They would be very bitter about it but they would try to find out what happened anyway.

Quinn would be very upset at first, ranting about how this isn’t logical, how MC loves them and how they wouldn’t do this... Then Atin will mention the possibility that MC went undercover, and Quinn would be instantly relieved but also worried about what might happen to MC while they are doing that.

Merkel: US double-agent accusation 'serious'

BEIJING, July 7:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said today that allegations of spying by a suspected United States double agent are serious, after ministers in her government called for a swift response from Washington.

Merkel made the remarks in a joint press conference with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, on her seventh visit to China since taking office in 2005.

“If the reports are correct, it would be a serious case.”

She added that “it would be for me a clear contradiction as to what I consider to be trusting cooperation between agencies and partners”.

Following revelations last year that the US National Security Agency allegedly tapped Merkel’s mobile phone, the reports that a German foreign intelligence service employee spied for the US have sparked anger in Berlin.

The US ambassador to Germany was asked to attend a meeting late on Friday at the German Foreign Ministry, after media reports that a 31-year-old man arrested last week had been feeding information to a US agency for two years.

“I expect now for everyone to assist in the speedy clarification of the accusations, and quick and clear statements, also by the US,” German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere told Bild newspaper in comments released ahead of today’s edition.

Germany’s Federal Prosecutor-General confirmed last week that a man had been arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of acting for a foreign intelligence service, but did not specify which one.

“All signs indicate that he was acting for the Americans,” the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) newspaper quoted an unnamed senior official at Germany’s foreign intelligence service, the BND, as saying.

The FAS and the weekly Bild am Sonntag newspaper, which cited information from security officials, said the man had worked for the CIA and had handed over more than 200 documents in return for 25,000 euros (RM109,000).

At their joint press conference, on the second day of Merkel’s three-day trip, she and Li found common ground on the issue of hacking, which the German chancellor said Berlin opposed “regardless of where the attacks come from”.

Li said China — which faced US accusations of cyber-espionage — was also “resolutely” opposed to such attacks.

On Robert Rogers

Something I was thinking about was how Robert Rogers was such an old fellow at this time. There was a reason he is portrayed as a fat, old man. Because, by the time of the American Revolution, he was a fat, old man.

Years of drinking will do that to you. Instead of Ranger: Year One we get The Drunken Knight Returns. The body is worn out, his mind a bit frazzled, but he is still a very scary character. And still very dangerous.

This scene--one I will admit to just waiting for Rogers to pop out from behind a tree--made sense because of who he was. You don’t get to be that much of a legend without being willy, and able to see the attacks before they happen. He is as cunning as he is devious.

That serves him well as he gets Abe to do his work. Rogers doesn’t know how, but something still isn’t right. He just doesn’t have all the facts yet. Now he has a couple of people working for him, turned “over a barrel,” 

Not really out of shame, more out of having to use the word "-sexual" when describing my general preference for the romantic company of fellow humans. Not fun around family. I also don't like shorting it to Bi. It sounds weirdly abstract. I feel like I am anouncing that I am the ambassador of the snake-people when I say "I'm bi." I mean, I definitely *identify* as Bisexual (sometimes Queer, depending on the weather), but it's the "-sexual" bit that makes me cringe. I'm not going to say "I'm Biromantic" because the implication there is that my attractions to the same sex are exclusively romantic. That I don't want to get it on with them, thanks, just make out a little or something.

That's not it either.

But I have found a new phrase that I am quite fond of. Sure, it beats around the bush a little, but it gets the point across.

Juan Pujol Garcia fought in the Spanish Civil War and knew a thing or two about hating fascism. So when the Nazis waltzed into Spain, Garcia offered his services to the British as a spy. When the Brits said they weren't hiring, Garcia did it anyway, using his powers of pure bullshit.

And his mighty beard.

Contacting the Nazi authorities, Garcia spun a tall tale about his fanatically pro-fascist leanings and desire to spread Hitler's good word in Britain. The Germans hired him to spy on the British government, but Garcia took their money and moved to Portugal instead, sending his employees an occasional postcard with Big Ben on it and complaining about how rainy it was in England where he totally was.

Of course, Garcia's entire job was to feed the Nazis intelligence about Britain, which he knew nothing about. So he simply spent his days watching newsreels, reading about Britain in the library, and compiling reams of secondhand bullshit and useless information. As if this wasn't brazen enough, Garcia began recruiting imaginary sub-agents and building himself an imaginary spy network within a country he'd never been to. And he submitted their expense reports. We're wondering what Nazi auditors thought when they came across Hugh Jass's expense report for fifty crates of beer and one hundred tacos.

When Britain caught word that this guy was playing the most hilarious and epic prank in history in their honor, they reconsidered his request to put him on the payroll. Now backed by the British government, Garcia and his new friends continued to expand their totally imaginary enterprise to leech an ever increasing salary from the German government, almost certainly writing their letters in the grip of hysterical laughter and high-fiving. In the end, Garcia had scammed over $4 million in today's dollars out of the Nazi government.

And they still didn't catch on. At the end of the war, Garcia was presented with the Iron Cross for his faithful and dedicated service to the Third Reich, making him one of only a small handful of people who won medals from both sides in World War II. When he got tired of it all, he faked his own death and ran a bookstore in Venezula for forty years. No, seriously.

"Thanks for the medal. I'll cherish it until the moment I find a trash can."
