We do know that Caedmon and/or Claire have demanded Dory as liaison to the Blarestri. And those are the only Fae that the vamps have a treaty with, right? And with plans being made to invade Faery, that has to be important. ?

excellent points @kathleengreshamtx ! Especially since Dory does also come to an uneasy truce with Aesbraend (sp?) I am leaning towards her getting the Liasons position. She is also on good terms with Caedmon. And while the vamps may not like having her in a position of power, as a Dhampir it might show some goodwill on working with others during this war. And oh god, can you imagine her meeting the circle? Possibly Caleb, definitely Jonas, MAYBE PRITKIN?? Oooh.
I’m torn about L-C, I have cute headcanons for whichever position he gets.
(Treasurer: Dory teases him about being a desk jockey, nerd; historian: dory teases him about being a nerd, indiana jones, but he secretly starts researching dhampir and vampire laws to help dory and busts out random trivia at the best time to support her when she inevitably starts to help either the vamps or the outcasts; weapons master: this is the one I want him to have most, because he’ll be good at it, but also can you imagine dory trying to get him to sneak her items, or visiting him at work and trying to steal items and he has a long suffering sigh and distracts her with massages and sass until they clock out for the day)

QUESTION 2: Can you give us a quick recap on the current members of the North American Senate? We know some have died, some are off healing and some we haven’t heard about since the early books. Obviously big changes are coming and we’d like to know the current situation before the next Dory book comes out.
The positions are as follows (each has a department under them which they control, except for the consul who controls everybody):
Positions filled: Consul (leader/senior bad ass): a certain snake-loving ex-queen Ambassador: Mircea Spy: Marlowe Enforcer: Mei Ling Persuader: Jack Internal Matters: Catherine (you know her as the Renaissance Lady) Liaison to the Fey: Halcyone (you know her as the Southern Belle)
Positions Open: Treasurer: Ismitta (currently on leave due to injury). Weapons Keeper: Geminus, until his recent, unlamented demise. Historian Liaisons to the Circle, Weres and Demon Council
So now I’m wondering which position L-C, Dory, Cheung and Zheng are assigned to. The only one I can really see Dory liking is Weapon Keepers, though possibly she could have fun with Liasons.
Dory/Louis-Cesare Headcanons
She introduces him to movie nights
After particular hard days at work, after they’ve washed the blood away and he’s kissed her bruises away as well as he can, they take turns choosing movies and/or the theme.
He’s heard of Disney, but only peripherally. So, of course, she has to spend a few weeks spamming him on them
Dory spends all of her sneakiness to keep him in the dark about the movies featuring her name.
He finds out somehow anyway.
(She suspects Marlowe had a hand in it, the bastard)
Usually they watch with their roommates, depending on who’s around, but sometimes they get the tv to themselves and snuggle on the couch.
They managed to be alone when watching “Lilo and Stitch”, a fact that Dory was super grateful about when she got affected by the “dumb animation, that’s all” “Whatever you say Dory” (Ohana means family, this is my family, small and broken). Neither acknowledged her wet face, but he held her closer regardless.
She did the same thing during his reaction to Hercules’ “Find where I belong”.
They took a break from Disney to watch comedies for awhile.
The first time she sees it, Dory’s room in LC’s house features white walls and beautiful new paint. There’s also two smocks waiting on the giant bed.
She paints the walls, laughing at the fact that Louis-Cesare seems more interested in painting her.
She finally returns the favor by giving him a clown nose.
They christen the bed with paint flakes and giggles neither will admit to.
Mine too, @grimmwatson Honestly i adore all of her characters, she writes such dynamic people and nuanced relationships, so whichever series I'm reading has my full attention. Dory and LC though...they are so adorable, and I love that there is no love triangle, which I was honestly worried about with Caedmon in the first book. But nope, it's straight up normal relationship drama with a supernatural setting. You've got them navigating past love interests (christine), personal worth issues, prejudice, social status, fear of intimacy (physical, emotional, mental), family life, their own agency (war efforts, parts of their lives that don't overlap), self worth, misunderstandings...just all things that real people will go through. And they do it in a healthy way! Apologies and respecting boundaries, talking it over and giving each other snuggles and space as needed, and not giving up on each other. Respectful and sexy, what's not to love?
