King's Queen
Dorian Havilliard x Reader
based on this ask
Summary: Dorian's mother makes her opinions on your relationship clear. You make your own opinions known. (angst â smut â fluff)
Warnings: smut below the cut, phantom hands/light bondage, minors dni
Wiping your hands nervously on the skirts of your dress, you gave Dorianâs mother a shy smile, reaching your hand towards hers to shake. âItâs lovely to finally meet you, Georgina.âÂ
Piercing green eyes appraised you, lip twisting disdainfully at your outstretched hand as her back straightened. She spoke in a delicate voice that betrayed the vitriol of her words. âHow informal of you,â she noted glancing between you and Dorian. âI do still hold the title of Queen, if you were unaware. You may also refer to me as âLady Havilliardâ.âÂ
With a flip of her long auburn hair, Georgina strolled towards her seat at the dining table, leaving you to awkwardly lower your hand to your side. Dorian quickly took your hand, pressing a kiss to your knuckles as he gave you a reassuring smile and guided you towards the table.Â
You took your seat, glancing down the table to where Georgina sat next to Dorianâs brother, Hollin, cutting his steak for him as the woman doted on her younger son, hardly sparing either you or Dorian a glance. After pushing around the mashed potatoes on your plate for an insufferable amount of time, you mustered the courage to try speaking to Georgina again.Â
With a deep breath, you plastered on a practiced, pleasant smile and turned towards where the queen sat. âLady Havilliard, Dorian has told me that you quite enjoy the mountains. Iâve heard your home there is quite lovely - I can only imagine, if it holds a fraction of the beauty with which youâve decorated this castle.âÂ
Her cold gaze flicked to you, her own fork dropping to her plate with a clatter. âYes, it is a lovely home,â she acknowledged before quickly turning back to Hollin. Lifting her wine glass to her lips, Georgina murmured so quietly that it was hardly detectable, even with your fae hearing. âMuch nicer than a fae servant is accustomed to, Iâm sure.â The insults continued, Georgina continuing her verbal assault as you struggled through the meal.
The effects of her words weighing heavier and heavier, your hand moved to Dorianâs thigh, squeezing for comfort. His sapphire eyes focused on you, hand moving to rub the back of yours in an assuring manner as you hurriedly finished your meal. Quietly bidding Georgina and Hollin a good night, you dashed out of the room as quickly as you could.
You moved at an exceptionally fast pace, stopping when Dorian grabbed your wrist, twirling you around to see his concerned gaze. Noting the barely held-in tears in your eyes, Dorian pulled you into the nearest room. Eagerly crossing the drawing room, you took a seat on the plush velvet sofa, burying your face in your hands.Â
Dorian crouched in front of you, rubbing soothing circles on your thighs. âMy love, are you alright? I know my mother is unpleasant, and I am so sorry for that.âÂ
You shook your head, leaning back against the seat as a wry chuckle left your lips. âIt wasnât only that she was so stiff and dismissive. You should have heard the things she said about me when she knew that you couldnât hear. I am nothing but a fae servant, I only care for you for your title, I am not worthy of you.â Voice breaking at those last words, your shoulders shook as you began to cry into Dorianâs shoulder.
He held you for a long moment, letting you process your emotions before he placed a kiss to your head. âAre you going to be alright?â Sniffling, you nodded, and Dorian stood.
âI have something to take care of, but I will meet you in our bedroom,â he promised, giving a soft kiss to your lips before the both of you departed in different directions.Â
As you meandered back to your room, your head began to ache from all the tears you had spilled this evening. With a sigh of resignation, you turned back towards the kitchens in search of some water. The familiar shrill voice of Georgina Havilliard pricked your ears, and you rolled your eyes as you continued walking - until a deep, irritated voice rose louder.Â
Recognizing Dorian as the other person speaking, you quietly tiptoed towards the conversation, listening as you moved through the hallway. Rage boiled through you as you registered Georginaâs words coming from the cracked door up ahead. âI am not indifferent towards you, Dorian. I have given up on you. You are a consistent disappointment, and this common woman... pardon, fae - she spoke the word, dripping with disdain - is the perfect example of your poor choices. You are nothing as I hoped you would be.âÂ
You could not bear to hear any more of her venom, nearly bursting the solid wood door off of its hinges as you burst into the room, halting Dorian and Georgina where they stood. Your eyes burned with fury as you turned towards the woman, barely maintaining the leash you held on your fae instincts which called on you to rip her to shreds.Â
Not bothering with pleasantries, you spoke in a voice youâd reserved for the worst of your enemies. âYou may speak however you wish about me, but if I hear you belittle Dorian like that again, I will cut out your tongue. It is a miracle that your King is the exceptional man that he is, having come from you. It would be wise of you to recognize that.â
The air was heavy in the room, a long moment passing as Georgina shriveled under your intense gaze. With a sniffle, the woman raised her head, courageously lifting her green eyes to you as she spoke. âI will bear that in mind.â
With a smile, you nodded, once more wishing her a pleasant evening as you took Dorianâs hand and guided him out the door and towards your bedroom. Closing the door behind you, you turned to see Dorianâs sapphire eyes wide in shock as he stared at you. âAre you okay?â you whispered, becoming increasingly worried that you might have frightened him with your actions.
Dorian surprised you, his lips curving into a mischievous smile as he turned you around. Black hair hung in his eyes as Dorian towered over you, arms caging you in as he backed you against the wall. âThat was the most spectacular... sexiest thing anyone has ever done for me,â he purred, leaning in as he dragged his nose up your neck.
Right Where You Left Me
Dorian x reader
A/n: this takes place like halfway through Throne of Glass when shit starts to get really crazy lol. Dorian is another character that deserves the world but the world doesnât deserve him.
Warnings: Angst
It had been months that you had this weird feeling that Dorian was keeping something from you. You tried to get him to talk about it but he wouldnât open up to you. You tried to follow him during the day, and at night even but you were never successful.
Today you have finally reached your limit. You knew it had to do with the champions contest for the king. Dorian didnât want you anywhere near that mess but you didnât care. There was dangerous and creepy stuff happening all over the castle, people were dying!
If you couldnât be near it, then you wanted him away from that mess too. You couldnât bear to lose Dorian for something so stupid, especially if his father was involved.
You stood outside his room, taking a deep breath praying you didnât cry once you saw him, and knocked. You entered without waiting for a response from your boyfriend.
Dorian was sitting at his desk, pouring over a large ancient book. He looked up as you got closer to him. He noticed you were upset, ây/n, whatâs wrong?â
You werenât going to hold back. You were always honest with each other and that wasnât going to stop now. âI donât think I can do this anymore Dorian.â His eyes widened in shock and worry. You could tell he wasn't expecting this. He stands, taking your hands in his.
You close your eyes and gently pull away from him, you don't want to touch him again, not when you knew it would be the last time. âYouâre keeping secrets from me, and itâs killing me.â Guilt takes over his face. Like he knew this conversation was coming.
âThereâs weird shit going on around here. And that damned contest is the root of the problem. I know you said you didnât want me around it and thatâs fine I donât want any part of that.â Taking a shuddering breath you continue, âBut, I canât stand by while you put yourself in danger too.â
Dorian stuffs his hands in his pockets, âChaol is always with me, Iâm perfectly safe.â You shake your head. âIt doesnât matter if Chaol is with you or not. I have a bad feeling about all of this.â Tears start falling fast. âDorian, I canât keep worrying about you. You wonât tell me whatâs really going on and quite frankly, I donât even want to know anymore.â Dorian looks down at his feet, you can feel the guilt coming off him.
âYouâre sneaking off, getting into weird situations with Chaol and Lillian, and weâre not even spending time together anymore.â There was finality in your tone. You could tell Dorian knew there was no changing your mind but he had to try.
âIâm sorry y/n. Please, please let me make it up to you. I canât lose you.â He steps closer to you but just back away, shaking your head.
You wipe at your face trying to stop the tears still falling. âThereâs nothing to do. Weâre past that. I want to break up, Dorian. I think itâs for the best.â Truly, he knew it was too. Dorian knew deep down there was something bigger than a few strange murders and odd marks on the walls. And whatever was coming he wanted you far away from it.
Even if you didnât love him anymore he would always love you. If something ever happened to you he would never forgive himself. He nods, âI am truly sorry, for everything. And if this is whatâs bestâŚâ he couldnât finish his sentence. It was too painful letting you go. And saying it made it real.
All you could do was nod. You walk towards the door before you break down. If you did break down you knew he would comfort you and that wasnât fair to either of you.
Before you shut the door you looked at the prince one last time, âGoodbye, Dorian. Iâm sorry too.â
As soon as the door shut Dorian began to cry. He would never forgive himself for how things ended between you two.
