this and also the only difference between fanfic writers and writers who sell their own original works as careers is that fanfics aren’t monetized. that’s all.

being a “professional” writer doesn’t mean your works are inherently better than fanfics. I’ve read so many fics that are more professionally written than some published books.

some people really don’t realize how privileged they are that they get fanfics for free. imagine having access to something for free because someone is kind enough to share it with you… and then being rude, entitled and an ungrateful pos to that person who was kind enough to share their creation with you for free

“almost 1 year is a lil too much for me” fuck off. fanfic writers don’t owe you anything. one of my favorite fics was updated after 13 years, and what I did is that I thanked the author for choosing to continue the work, I didn’t act like a spoiled toddler by asking why they didn’t update sooner. and even if a writer chooses to abandon their fic permanently with no explanation, that is their choice, their hobby, their decision. they don’t owe your entitled ass anything.

I think the fact the Lego monkie kid ISNT as faithful is part of what made it popular. Like JTTW is more a background aspect of lmk since like MK is the main character! Also like most of the main cast are descendants/reincarnation of the JTTW gang while still remaining there own individual characters. It’s a different spin on the characters which I think a lot of ppl loved!

I can only really speak about what made ME watch it.. which honestly I was first intrigued by the animation/artstyle! LMK is a very beautiful animated series imo. As while as the voice acting! I didn’t even know the concept of the show before I watched it, I just loved the art aspect XD

Another thing is that I think the fact that LMK takes place like presumably hundreds of years into monkey kings “retirement” and is wayyyy post journey is really interesting. Especially with the mystery surrounding MKs powers in the earlier seasons. At the end of the day monkey king is supposed to be a mentor figure for MK, he was “happy” in retirement but now that MK is his successor, he’s dealing with all of monkey kings old enemies and making new ones of his own.

Also the fact that the show was made by a big company like LEGO. LMK is a more modern spin of the story and characters.

Anyway yeah I think ppl just liked that the story WAS so different. And yeah yaoibait definitely helps, fandom will always find a way XD

lowk LMK is like if you timeskiped and then added all your OCs to the story which I love XD
