ok so to start-a little more detail on how the shorthand is established!

THIS IS THE ALPHABET! the language is Not an exact one-to-one cypher, it actually has a bit of its own grammer structures and punctuation and structure but this aint about that fjfjf

the first image is just rehashing what i said above, the letter for L, and then a florish- in the shape of a leaf-to show that this is specifically Leafy. the letters T+B, for tennis ball, mixed into one letter, and then the florish is in the shape of his highlights!

the second image-using the name of my girlfriends oc Howie for example-shows what may happen if there are missing letters. theres no "h" in my insulăvoric alphabet, so instead the letters O and W are chosen to represent him, and then combined and given a florish.

the third image is breaking down coinys dumbass shorthand, but the most important thing to take from it is that for certain missing letters, you base it off the sound they make rather than skipping over them. so a C would be replaced with a K or S, depending on the type of C sound. in coineys case its a K! theres also no Y, so his name is actually spelled koin-E hehe

ok now to break down the individual shorthands a bit!! from left right, top bottom.

as established, leafys is simple, just the letter L with a couple additional lines in the shape of a leaf!!

Fireys is the letter F, with a few curved points on top to show his flames.

Clock is the letter for K-no c, remember?-with an additional curved bottom and two lines to resemble his hands. i think this was given to him by four, who picked up tje habit of curve-heavy florishes from three (dw theres a bit more on that bit later)

Teardrop is a T with a curved line to show her body shape-as well as a single line meant to resemble both a shine And her mouth! teardrop being nonverbal is something Very notable about her and i think thats absolutely something someone would consider a distinguishing trait.

Firey Jr is just fireys but with one less squiggle, which is meant to show that hes a smaller version of firey visually, but i also think dora herself was the one to give him shorthand, which is why its more simplistic.

Doras is INCREDIBLY simple, literally just the letter D with a bracket to resemble her bangs. Dora is the only actual davidian i gave a symbol, and she wouldve gotten her shorthand from a native speaker. i think native speakers tend to write their shorthand a lot simpler, because theyre used to writing very quickly and the whole point of shorthand symbols is to be quick and efficent. so doras is one of the simplest! firey jrs is also very simple for that same reason-dora gave it to him, and shes used to writing quickly in insulăvoric, and would naturally give him a symbol more efficant for the purpose of fast writing over looking visually cool.

saws is a little bit more of a hassle to write but its also not as crazy as it looks at a first glance, just an S with another shape inside the bottom bump to represent her handle, and a squiggle attatched to the top bump to resemble her blade. despite the fact it Looks more complex i actually think Dora gave her the shorthand as well, more for style or an example than for efficancg and just doesnt add the blade spikes when writing fast.

Grassys is just a G and then a squiggle as a florish so it resembles his body, like hes hanging upside down.

Winners is a W, with florish at the bottom to resemble their body, and extra spikes at the top to resemble their hand! theyre giving a little wave aww

ok gonna do TB GB and SquashBall's all at once- TB was explained above, GB is similarly g+b, but with the opposite side missing from the B, so she and TB match. in place of the lines are her dimples! and then Squashball is S+B, with both top parts intact and his florish on the bottom because hes my tengolf fankid :] the dots are meant to resemble his cheeks, but i think they also work to mmake it look like hes curiously peeking over to see what ur doing.. what a cutie! anyways i think GB made the shorthand for TB, Squash, And herself (gasp!) which is why theyre very clean and efficient.

nickels is STUPID its an N with a curve below to look both like a ¢ AND her (#transfemnickeltruther) body, with the N itself having an additional florish so it looks like an upsife down view of her JUMPING for joy!

COINYS IS EVEN MORE STUPID youve already seen the breakdown, but another thought i have on it is that pin gave it to him to tease him.

"why are there two for pencil" ok this is a Long ramble but bare with me here. so important note i Do see pen and pencil as siblings, because pencil is Absolutely someones mean older sister and pen is Absolutelt someones dumbass little brother. anyways i think they actually took a couple classes together on insulăvoric at some point Before bfb, maybe even before bfdi entirely. and in my head since the two were siblings and there together, the teacher decided to use them as an example of shorthand naming, and had them make symbols for eachother. pencil just did a P with a bit of florish to look like his dumb cap, probably making a jab at how it CERTAINLY distinguishes him, and Pen, in true annpying little brother fashion, made pencils look vaguely like a penis . just vageuly. he argued that it was meant to be her eraser, but he absolutely meant for it to look like a penis. just s plausibly deniable penis. howeber pencil isnt stupid, so when she shows it to other people she adds a little triangle to represent her led, so you see it more as her body and less as a diiick. pen Will show everyone he can the way he did it though. sometimes ad another line through the erased and claim its just the "L" in "penciL" but he just wants to piss her off by making it look more like a penis.

which lets me segue to Pin, who ABSOLUTLY writes pencils shorthand the way pen does. the P is sharped to resmble her point, which unfortunately backfires to make it look like an F. Fin's additional florish resembles her body! and it was given to her by coiny, hence the fuck up.

Lollipop's was, like pen and pencils, something that happened long before-she gave Herself the shorthand, and made it both Incredibly recognizable and VERY efficent. its just an LO, put together to resemble Lollipop herself! but its easy to sign, easy to read, easy to market. branding is everything!

Basketball and robotflower are maybe my worst ones im so sorry. but basketballs is Meant to be a(modified) B+L for BasketbaLL with the florish of a circle to resemble her body, though i think it doesnt read very well, and robot flowers is just Flowers but more angular, as well as being based on the letter R instead of F.

remote is the letter R, but with a florish to resemble her body, and a line to look like a button! the top of the R is also meant to look like a signal being sent out, idk i think its cute :]

Fanny's is meant to look like a view of her from the side, as well as a combo of the letters F+E, because itd be spelled like "Fan-E" in insulăvoric.

And then Pillow's is just the P with florish to look like shes peaking around a corner.

ONTO THE ALGEBRALIANS!

im gonna actually start with an Important tidbit here-Three gave the shorthands to everyone but fifteen. rememeber earlier, when i said i think Four picked up the habit of adding rounded shapes to the shorthand names? you can see here, with the context in mind three came up with (almost) all these symbols, that she really did have a MASSIVE habit of using muchbrounder shapes, while insulăvoric tends to use more pointed ones! (so while clock Could have just had the hands, four gave him the bottom bit too, for additional roundness. get what im saying?)

FOURs is the letter F, with two bumps to resemble his ...ears ? top nubs ? anyways theres also a spike at the top to resemble his cheek, but i actually think three would make the cheek rounded too. sighh too late to change that.

X's is uh. well its the letter X. which already Looks like his body. so i-I mean THREE-decided to embrace the fact his body is thicker, giving him an extra florish, making it like his body, while keeping the bottom left side empty, which also makes it look like a heart! x is a very sweet charavter with a big heart, so i lke that it works for both resembling him and noting his personality.

back to my insane thing of characterization via the way i think a fictional character may write the name of another fictional character in the culture of a fictional language of which i MADE UP the written form of the language And the culture around it- i think alongside the rounder shapes, threes shorthand style tended to be based on personality and what she thinks someone would Want to symbolize them just as much as she bases it off of physical features.

TWO is just a T with florish in the shape of the number two. theyre a two! hey two :] they know all about twos theyre a two ... they are literally two 🤷 its two

One has two symbols, split between moments in time. im actually gonna start wth the one on the Right first, the one from the past. obviously, three gave her the shorthand, just like she did everyone else..but its not actually very reliant on her personality. at all. its just in the shape of her body-and so is Two's, but Two's is also swirly and fun and almost Looks like youre getting distracted halfway through writing it, while One's is.. literally Just in the shape of her body. meaning three Absolutely cared about one enough to include her, but not Quite enough to fully know what shed Want in a shorthand symbol, nor enough to know what parts of her personality really stand out. because at this point..not a lot did.

ones CURRENLT shorthand symbol, the one on the left, aka th first on in the order of ones symbols lol, acrually Wasnt made by three, i think that its something the tpot characters made to discuss her. the shape of the O, ratehr than forming her lower body, is used here to resemble a circle, with the florish making the shape of a contract, the circle around the portion an object would sign. at this point, one is someone more hidden away and conspincious, and i, jack, am showing that by having her present shorthand not be her body. the characters motivation for using that shorthand would be that the deals are just about the only thing they all know, meaning thats Absolutely her most distinguishing feature-shes conniving and sneaky and she makes DEALS. sign here! and the shorthand would help both with..being shorthand..And discussing her in a way the average object is less likely to understand at a glance. (its also, on an Insane degree of symbolism from me, meant to signify that the route she has gone on has made her into someone that barely resembles who she used to be.)

THREE (yes i know shes red but sh i havent used pink enough) also has a past and present symbol, though the explination is a Lot less complex. both forms use the TH base, using the angles to form the right side of her body. her past form was made to match everyone elses, with the swirls, and an extra completely unnecessary line to show a big smile! very notable traigjr her bigsmile 🙂‍↕️ im so tired now can you tell. anyways, her current symbol loses the swirls completely, and instead of a smile, its a single line to resemble her eye. this is Absolitly me projecting, but i think that after being made disabled, curves are hard for her to do without slipping or shaking, and sometikes even painful. (do you see that insulăvoric is mostly sharp angles ? why do you think that is lmfaoo i hate curves it hurts me so bad to fo those .) anyways so i think bc curves are harder, she and four and/or x (its actually x in my head 🤷) work to give her a sligjtly revamped symbol that doesnt have any curves. she also embraces the remaining eye, because shes not ashamed of being disabled (hi im jack and im the number one disabled three fan :3) (im so so tired bt this point if ur stillbreading all this congrats and im sorry. Were almost done we can get through this ok) anywys shes unashamed so her new symbol embraces the remaning eye as a way to show shes happy with what she has, rather than dwelling in what she hasn't. is that actuallt how she feels? No. but shes not the one who made the symbol now is she? sometimes a name can be less based on the traits that are There and more based on what you Hope for. thats not an insulăvoric thing, i think thats just ..how it is for people in any world.

Nines is the letter N turned into a sunglasses smiley face because shes fucking stupid

Six's symbol is an S with a florish in the shape of her body, but it also takes a bit of skill to write quickly. the curves and shape are something that are Almost the slightest bit abstract, and the way it ties back to the point..its meant to be more artist and show-offy than just being her body like it first looks. its also a closed shape, rather than open like most.

Zeros is a Z with a little cap on it! almost perfecrly generic, except for the one bit of him that isnt. i mean it. the one part of It that isnt perfectly generic. anyways the symbol is quick and effecient and almost a bit sloppy!

fifteens is THANK GOD the last one, and it was given to her by zero-you can REALLY tell it wasnt three. hers is just the letter F with a florish in the vague shape of a gun. (gestures vaguely) like i said zero gave her the symbol. "but why Didnt three give her one?" like i said, three kept their personalities in mind! and i think three knew..fifteen would Want to be left out lol.
