Diving into the World of Waste to High-Street Fashion with Doodlage
The brand that requires no introduction, Doodlage, is India's first fashion label completely devoted to up-cycling and recycling waste fabric into entirely wearable yet stunning pieces. The brand's motto is ‘Buy less, choose well, and make it last.’ They have carved a whole new course to up-cycled materials and promoting seasonless garments across the globe.
To bring back the traditional way- the brand has not been patented; permitting not only people but brands as well, to be part of the change and bring out a striking impact in the fashion industry.
One must wonder, where does all the material waste used in Doodleage's garments come from? in step with the logo, there are many production devices, massive and small, that provide the fabric. There’s a tonne of waste from the quick fashion enterprise in Delhi itself that helps with the gathering of material scraps, later to be upcycled and made into clothing. Consequently, there's a massive ocean to clean and remake.
Moreover, there are not any chemicals or colours used within the entire system.
The fabric is checked, embroidered, patched, paneled, and stuck earlier than being sent to manufacturing units, and to withstand brands saying, ‘tailoring waste into fashion’. They don’t allow anything to go to waste. Tiny fabric scraps are turned into paper that's used in making books and tags for the clothes. Also, the packaging is done in tote bags for consumers. Given the brand's motto and upcycling agenda, they are determined to make a change in the fashion industry in India and have made a remarkable difference already.

Marie Kondo or not, we Indians can be big hoarders. As we emerge from lockdown, some fashion upcyclers to inspire and possibly help repurpose what we already have
Indians love recycling and repurposing, from plastic dabbasto grandmum’s cutlery. I remember my mum’s 1960s red plaid skirt and white top. One of the last outfits her parents bought her before they moved back to Kerala from…

Ideas to help
You don’t always have to match your shoes to your bag, and nobody says you need to choose between sensibilities. The key lies in mixing it up. Be it in the form of an unexpected pop of Ikat in an otherwise sporty ensemble, or a pair of furry bedroom-inspired slides to lighten up a blazer. Take the boudoir to the streets, the boardroom to the ball, and the mountain to the beach. Let your clothing…
