#dont misunderstand

My answer is 'Hollywood Hop Pop' (no matter if it wasn't part of the options) because, other than being the episode directly after 'Olivia & Yunan', it just... felt very stupid, I'm so sorry. "We have to keep a low profile", Anne says throughout this episode and in 'Spider Sprig' and many other episodes but she keeps going out to public places like this with the Plantars anyway. (Fine, it's a comedy show and it's a cartoon so shenanigans HAVE to happen but... just... ugh...)

And, although I'm happy that Hop Pop has finally discovered a new dream, I'm just not a fan of "wasting" (very, very loosely using the word here) an episode (especially after a really traumatizing one) to tackle his dream. To be honest, I actually forgot about him wanting to become an actor. Or at the very least, I thought he had given up on it... like, totally - not even a nudge will entice him. But well... he did. And... yeah. Sorry. I really couldn't care less and I feel damn, damn bad.

And on to the reason why I posted this... I'm surprised that most people dislike 'Hop Till You Drop'. Is this a silent agreement within the fandom that I don't know about? We got a few lore information in this episode. We met Gabby, the very first character to acknowledge Anne's disappearance, we get to see shenanigans based on the Plantars' flaws and that scene at the end where the Plantars were always there for Anne and she doesn't even know. That was so wholesome. Not to mention, we saw the very minute scene of Amphibia's shot at Disney.

summary: in which yuri finally has to tell nayoung the truth on how she feels.

takes place in may 2016.

“you’ve been harder to figure out recently.” nayoung hums, watching as yuri tears out a piece of paper from her journal out and throws it to the side, her eyebrows furrowing in frustration. “i cant tell if you’re actually happy to be here, or if you’ve been faking it this whole time.” nayoung breathed out, raising her eyebrows defensivly when yuri looked up at her with a glare, raising her hands up in surrenderence.

“what do you mean ‘faking it this whole time’? i wouldn’t myself through that hell if i didn’t want to debut,” yuri questioned the girl in front of her, slamming her journal closed, fully looking at her leader in front of her. produce was living hell, and if her desire to be an idol wasn’t as strong as it was, she would have dropped out a long time ago.

“i don’t know! you just don’t seem happy recently. even with our debut coming up...you’d think you would cheer up some,” nayoung said exasperatedly, sinking further down the glass she was sitting against. she watched as yuri frowned at her words, shaking her head before taking a deep breath, looking back at the girl in front of her.

“i really want to be happy. i got accepted into this group, i even got to participate in making some of our songs, this exact moment has been what i have been wanting ever since i was 13...but it just doesn’t seem right. like i don’t deserve to be here.” yuri admitted, running her hands through her hair harshly, shaking her head. she had worked so hard to get to this very moment, she had worked day and night, hour after hour. but she couldn’t find it in herself to be happy, her brain had refused to let all of the happy thoughts stay for long, only to replace them with self - deprecating thoughts and absolute numbness.

“you do deserve to be here, i promise you. you place fifth! out of 102 trainees, you ended up placing fifth! that’s something to be proud of yourself for.” nayoung praised the younger girl, walking over to sit next to her, pulling yuri into her arms, allowing yuri to place her head into nayoung’s chest. “i know everything seems so hard right now, but don’t beat yourself up about it. just...relax. let yourself let go of everything thats holding you back. free yourself from your restraints. if you can survive a survival show, you can survive this. i promise you.” nayoung whispered, pacing a gentle kiss into yuri’s forehead, smiling when she felt yuri wrap her arms around nayoung’s waist , something that rarely happened.
