Get It Right Before You Get Smart
I don’t normally go looking for previous commenters on YouTube to rub their wannabe-smart comments in their face, but one person just really irked me a couple of weeks ago LoL. You can doubt our team, we’ve earned it, but don’t doubt this coach. Ten Hag is smart, detailed, and has a reason for everything he does. When I said that he started Martinez against Brighton because he needed to see who in the back line can’t defend to the level he wants, I wasn’t playing and I wasn’t talking out of my backside. Ten Hag saw exactly what I saw and benched the players he identified as part of the problem...notice that Lisandro wasn’t one of them. We’ve gone on to win three games, conceding only one goal, and keeping two clean sheets. His defensive numbers are currently rivaling Virgil Van Dijk’s and people are still like Tommy Lee Jones in the first Captain America movie: “he’s still short.” 🙄
If Ten Hag genuinely thought his height would be an insurmountable problem, believe me, he never would’ve brought him here. He’s here to fulfill a role and he’s clearly doing it to Ten’s satisfaction. Maybe think twice before you try to get smart with an Ajax fan who’s been watching this man closely for the last two years before he arrived in Manchester. 🤫
(And speaking of, I won’t be surprised at all if the next big-money Ajax deal we do is to bring Van der Sar back to be our Director of Football. Ten is clearly taking care of his former club as he builds his current one and knows they’d both be well-rewarded for the move. 😁)
