So the beginning.

Minimus Ambus is known as Dominus Ambus's less impressive brother who has applied for and been rejected by most law enforcement agencies on Cybertron, up to and including the Primal Guard. He eventually gained work as a legal aid and took great joy in researching and assisting until his coworkers and employer became uncomfortable with his caste and politely requested he leave. He is horrified to have to continuously inform his brother and brother-in-law of his constant failures and to live by his House's grace in a separate modest apartment at his own insistence to give Rewind and Dominus privacy.

Dominus wants his brother to be happy and know Minimus feels the need to work despite the fact Dominus is fully willing to support him. He makes connections though and after a little discussions manages to bring Senator Shockwave to home for dinner. Dominus spends it subtly (and not so subtly) pushing them together. Minimus eventually picks up on the behavior and assumes, incorrectly, that Dominus has decided to try his hand at matchmaking now that Minimus has proven so functionless there would surely be some desperate hoping to use a connection to Dominus's bright star to up their own prestige. 

Minimus is incensed and loses his temper tearing into Dominus who is shocked enough to not get an edge in. Shockwave overhears and laughs delighted as Minimus firmly, but furiously coolly turns him down.

He says Minimus's energy is exactly the kind he needs in the Senate and teasingly informs Minimus "This isn't a matrimonial proposal. It's a job offer and I find myself absolutely certain that you are exactly who I need Minimus Ambus."

Minimus is, of course, horrified, and apologizes profusely but Shockwave remains thoroughly delighted and says he cannot wait to see him shutdown his colleagues and gives him his contact asking to reach out if he'd like the full details before telling Dominus he is very grateful for the introduction. He also, teasing, informs Minimus he already has a lover but is flattered Minimus thought he was a beauty.

Minimus goes home with his tail between his legs (metaphorically, but it would definitely be literal). After a few days he contacts Shockwave and gets the details of who he is and what Minimus's job would be.

It is not what Minimus imagined for himself but it is working in a similar field and working to improve the lives of others through the law. Plus Senator Shockwave's voting record speaks for itself.

(Back home Rewind is thoroughly unimpressed and scolding his Conjunx for ambushing his brother. Dominus is cowed but excited at the prospect because as he puts it Minimus is so passionate and so kind. If only people could see it. 

Rewind doesn't quite himself since Minimus has always been stiff and distant from him, but he knows his Conjunx adores Minimus just as much as Minimus clearly looks up to him. He thinks its sweet and says that Shockwave has a way of pushing people to grow and he might have a good effect on him.

Dominus smiles at the thought and the talk about the investigation that Rewind is doing into mechanisms going missing and to be careful.)

First day of work, Rewind is just looking this younger, shiny gold bot up and down and realizes, “Oh god, he’s serious. Lmao.” And he grills Dominus to no end, thinking he’s just another sack of shit Aristocrat low life.

s with a couple books and a campaign to appeal to the Senate. His disciplined ideology is something he uses to contrast himself with the Primes, to stand out against the average political representative’s image of a love of excess and luxury.
