i think that people that say “yokai watch is just a pokemon ripoff” have very blatantly never interacted with yokai watch. they both have similarities but honestly yokai watch is so much more fun than pokemon in every regard and pokemon was such a big part of my life and after getting like. really into ykw i just cannot bother to care at all about pokemon outside of my favorites (which dont come up anyway because theyre all ‘bad’ pokemon)
anyway the fact that pokemon stans will swear up and down that ykw (and frankly any other thing like it or digimon, etc) is just a blatant ripoff is so fucking funny to me. they have such BASIC similarities and people act like yokai watch having evolution in the games and thats PROOF that its a pkmn ripoff makes me laugh a lot because of the implication that pokemon invented evolution. people saying that ykw is a ripoff because “you catch things” ALSO make me laugh a lot because of the implication that pokemon invented catching things.
yokai watch being better than pokemon will always be a Hot Take that i have and i will go to my grave w it. ykw is GOOD and im so mad that people here act like fucking buffoons about it.
