Who?

In their sixth year Dorcas and Alecto were partnered to work together potions. For an entire year. Doe had left class that day going over every single possible thing that could go wrong and oh, she would tell you that there were many. Towards the end of the year was when it got really bad. Doe had learned how to ignore Alecto's jabs but that day they had been exceptionally worse. Instead of aiming her insults at Doe, she aimed them to her friends and Doe lost it. Her fist hit her so hard Doe wasn't sure if she broke Alecto's nose or her own fingers - or both. Blinded by rage, Doe kept at it until Slughorn pulled her off. It was all a blur, really, but to this day Doe remembers the anger and despair coursing through her. Anger over the foul things she was chirping, anger over the fact Alecto had allowed her blood supremacy to ruin what could have been a great friendship, and despair over all of those things ten times over. 

When Alecto shunned Dorcas in her first year after finding out she was a half blood, Doe told herself spending energy on beating around the bush, small talk, et cetera wasn't really worth having the friends or acquaintances. Before long, Doe had buried any memories she had with Alecto. They could have been friends but it didn't work. It happens. It wasn't until her sixth year when she and Alecto were partnered together in Potions did all the emotions come back. As the year went on, Doe developed her first real crush on Alecto. Instead of showing it in flirty gestures, though, Dorcas buried it like every other memory she had of Alecto and acted out with snide remarks and empty threats. To this day Doe has kept it secret and sometimes when it's late and she's wandering the castle after curfew, Doe will let herself wonder about what could have been.
