Hi dogblr!
Idk how many people this will reach, but here goes. Me and my fiance are trying to plan for our next dog, we wont be getting it for probably about 1-2 years, so once Corvus has fully grown and matured more. We aren't too picky about energy level as we're fairly active and have a large fenced yard, and don't really care too much about high grooming maintenance since we already have a high maintenance grooming dog. We would like to keep with a medium-ish to small breed dog though. I personally would love a velcro dog, who's gonna want to cuddle at the end of a long and adventurous day. Some things we are looking to avoid would be dogs with brachy type faces, dogs with short legs and long bodies such as dachshunds and corgis, and dogs who drool excessively. We really want a dog who's going to be avidly able to keep up with our hikes and adventures as well as chill on lazy days or the ends of long and eventful ones.
The breeds we loosely have our eyes on are miniature aussies (although I cant remember if they're prolific for health problems or not) and Alaskan klee kai (more my fiance's choice than my own lol).
If anyone has any suggestions, questions, or advice, please let me know! Help and suggestions are much appreciated!
What is the best gift you ever bought your dog(s)?
anyone ever tried Tropiclean’s Fresh Breath gel on their dog??
my four year old Yorkie has horrible breath and tartar buildup, so rather than spend $500+ on a dental cleaning i’m trying to find a good product to use at home! it has really good reviews on line, but there are those reviews that scare me a bit (like it making their dogs sick and whatnot).
thoughts??
Question for dog trainers
So I've been learning about positive reinforcement training via clicker training, and I get how you can use the clicker to teach new behaviors. But how do you stop them from doing bad behaviors? In this case, it's barking when people come in the door. We have three dogs and they all do it, and my mom's solution of yelling "NO" at them and grabbing their muzzle to shush them obviously doesn't work. What would be the positive reinforcement way of teaching them not to bark at the door?

Okay, serious question: I know not to pet a service dog on duty, but is it okay if I gently wave at them? I need them to know that they're doing a wonderful job, and that I'm so proud of them, but don't want to distract them!!
Why do dogs wag their tails side to side and not back and forth?
Body awareness training? Duma does have fair body awareness, and doesn’t run into things too bad and is really good at avoiding things, but I want her to feel more aware of what she’s doing and feel more comfortable doing other things and new things
seeing these dogs jumping off their people and all that, does that need body awareness, is that just trust in the dog, is it the dogs psychical structure?? What goes into dogs being able to do that?
