the amazing thing abt this fandom is the Power of the Nuclear Family that invades all relationships (at the expense of identity&selfhood) where yes, rowena is a mother (to fergus) but that is merely one component of her being not her entire existence and yet that overwhelms perception of her (defining her by and with her motherhood and failure of it) as well as mary, and yes, claire has a connection to dean but the fandoms immediate leap to claiming their relationship as father daughter is so sinister to me lmao (as it is distinctly important her father’s body has been assumed as the permanent face of an angel of whom dean defends and remains within claires perception as someone who is monstrous, not dismissing her attachment to him as a defining role in her world as she continues to pursue hunting as a coping strategy for the chaos of her life) but like the need to place characters into The Family with a positive connotation first and foremost without engaging with what The Family represents/means and its cliff like power scales as well as the strict roles that this forces upon the characters without critically thinking of what that Role means to them creates (with a brilliant and horrific clarity) the exact horror of the show that they are purposefully trying to evade (as kevin is called ‘family’ when dean wants to control him, charlie assumes her family role happily applying deans standards to her perception of the strict binary of good/evil, the looming ‘innocent little brother sammy’ defines all acceptable aspects of sam’s life etc)

also this is never strongly stated on page, but i do think that bucky was very likely test subject number 1 in terms of soviet attempts at recreating the super soldier serum. there are pages with soviet data files about them attempting to allocate the serum through him and finding out / being surprised by the fact there is no trace of it, bucky was just naturally very talented. obviously, what they did to him is not genetically similar to reinstein/erskine's formula, but i do think round after round of trial serums paired with cybernetic manipulation (he appears to have some kind of techno-organic connection to the prosthetic as it can/will move when detached which otherwise wouldnt be possible--it suggests advanced brain wiring or some kind of techno-organic stimulation) has effectively made bucky a super soldier. when i call him a super soldier, i'm using it as shorthand for all of these things since there is no need to specify all the time lmao, this post is just so you guys know. bucky didn't receive an official super soldier serum but he effectively is one. i do think his enhancements also affected him a bit differently than steve (where steve was physically changed, bucky's physical changes are mostly organic--though steve did have 'vita rays' so who knows if that was responsible for more of the physique change--and where steve is geared more toward tanky strength, bucky is geared a bit more toward speed and agility) so it would not present the exact same in either of them. what bucky went through is also likely unable to be able to be reproduced as it occurred over the span of 40-45 years (1946-1990 or so).
