The embrace startled Reggie more than he would admit, stumbling at the sudden change in his front and left confused. One moment Delsin had been across from him, an awkward moment of silence between them and suddenly he was right there squeezing Reggie like he’d never see him again. Beanie in his face and arms wound around so tight it was nearing the breathless range.

He almost asks why, hand hovering over his brothers back in hopeful apprehension. It had been a long time since Delsin had hugged him, always seeming to put an arms length or more between them. So chaste, never spending more than ten minutes in his presence.  He knew why, was unpleasantly aware of why his brother skirted from his touch, from questions and even stepping one foot on the place they grew up together.

I’m afraid I’ll hurt you.

Reggie hoped this wasn’t a fluke, a moment that would never be repeated as soon as whatever was on Delsin’s mind left, hugging his little brother back with everything he has. Hoping it says more than either of them had been able to in forever. what needs to be said and done and--
