Ugh, I hate crunch. You do you, work your shift, then go home. That's all that should be expected. Period. I have so many feelings about this. Take care, Bird Friend
I do too! I almost went on a tirade at work about it before remembering that I was... you know... at work. But even one of my coworkers (w/ around the same amount of tenure as me) was talking about wanting to go home sick, but having tons of meetings & feeling bad for leaving. And I turned to him and said, “If the meetings would fall apart without you - if the project collapses because you couldn’t make the meeting - there are so many more problems going on than just you being sick.” And I urged him to take time off if he needed it.It’s ridiculous how burdensome work can be, and how out of control it has gotten since the boomers generation. With the exception of like, the medical profession, which has always been this kind of bad, it feels like everyone has to work more, take fewer breaks, and just generally... be more unhappy. It sucks.
