First DNF of the year: Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel.
I read about the HBO series, and it made me pick up the book. Unfortunately, the book didn't hold my attention. Maybe I'll just watch the series. Anyone has watched it yet?

Before you follow
None of us are comfortable with porn blogs or ddlg to the point you will be blocked for following. While I'm at it fuck off MAPs/NOMAPs and supporters. No pedophiles here you fucking freaks. Also if you have a blank blog ESPECIALLY with a generic non avatar that tumblr gives you as default, you get blocked on sight because there's no way to tell if you're a bot or not. The same goes for blogs with several posts with link posts with low note counts because, again, no idea if you're a bot or not
Also no TERFS/radfems/TIRFS/etc because fuck you guys. All the mods here except Dylan are trans and your kind aren't wanted here. Same goes for transmeds/truscum, REGS, aphobes and so on. No Nazis neo or otherwise, no alt right, none of that shit. I found some motherfucker who thought immigrants were sleeping in hotels while veterans were on the streets. None of that racist shit here. Period
All of us are anti capitalism, anti military industry, and anti cop. So you'll be blocked on sight for these in addition to the ddlg blogs, radfems, and pedophiles. This is a wholesome blog for two lovely, sassy little buns whom we consider our children and we won't be putting up with bullshit. All mods are queer, two being queers of color so if that bothers you, kindly fuck off
And now for pronouns etc:
Vann - they/xe white agender
Cake - they/them white genderfluid
Dylan - he/him mixed race white/Jewish man
Bryan - he/him biracial white/Japanese bigender lesbian
That's all I can think of for now. The inbox is always open. I'm the one who mostly posts on this blog for various reasons. Dylan and Bryan are lurkers so I don't recommend their blogs but they do have them if you're curious. Feel free to ask about buns or mods in the inbox as it's always open and we're happy to get asks. Because I'm the one who posts most often and I mostly use mobile, longer answers likely won't have a cut so keep that in mind. Non anon asks will have an @ in the response
Anyway, enjoy the blog! Sorry there isn't more frequent pictures and whatnot as we have things to do but I hope to one day be more consistent about posting photos/videos the day they're Actually Taken so there's more frequent posting and less hoarde dump posts
And, as always, all posts on this blog sfw and family friendly. We don't swear or say things here we don't in front of our own parents, nephews, nieces, etc. Like I have and would say fuck in front of my cousin's toddlers but I also know my cousins so do with that what you will
DNI + DNF

a post dedicated to a list of things that we either
1. will not tolerate at all & will, without hesitation, block blogs for.
or
2. do not wish to see from people who frequently interact with our blog, and consequently, even though we will not block you over anything that falls under this list, we would highly prefer these people to NOT follow us purely for our comfort.
please also remember to FOLLOW YOUR OWN DNI.
another side note: we do not think that dnis are entirely effective. we have one to deter folks who do want to listen & respect our boundaries, and to explain why those who do not will be blocked.
side note number 3: if you find us interacting with someone on our DNI, or you find that you are on our DNI, but we are having a civil conversation. most of us do not care. we think kindness is something everyone deserves at the end of the day, spread love not hate. if you asked a question and are seeking help, we like to help and that is that.
i should also mention that we do not care if someone uses transIDs like transWings or transPurpleEyes or anything like that. we don't care. that's fine that's harmless, we don't agree with the transgender umbrella term being grouped in with transIDs but we could give less of a shit if you want to have horns like it's okay that's cool have fun bro horns are rad. okay? okay.
see our main info post here.
DNI
anyone who either falls under these categories, agrees with them, supports people who do, etc. will be (most likely) blocked on sight.
the following things BEFORE the divider will not get you blocked if you agree with/support these, but are still on our DNI purely for safety reasons: 18+/kink/nsfw blogs & people who reblog posts from them.
t.r.a.s.h./basic dni
anti-endo/willo/nontraumagenic/nondisordered systems + fakeclaimers.
xenosatanists, (neo)nazis, anybody else who actively desires to abuse & hurt innocent people without consequence.
people who think it is okay to call themselves loli/shotacons, maps, etc.
anybody who falsely thinks that children, animals, or dead bodies can consent.
anybody who forces tme/tma language upon others, aligns with trf views, demonizes ANY form of transness, etc.
radqueers & others who support any "transharmful" ids and/or encourage people to actively worsen their lives, mental health, physical health, etc.
anybody who thinks it is okay to treat sexualizing fictional children as if it is a perfectly fine & even "good"/encouragable thing, purely because it is fiction. if it looks like a child, acts like a child, and talks like a child, it's 100% a child. this is what we mean when we say we do not wish to interact with proshippers/profic folks/darkshippers.
purity culture, anyone who is pro-censorship, etc. taboo topics deserve to be covered with respect, because ignoring issues does not make them go away.
anyone who encourages harassing others, ESPECIALLY doxxing - which is a federal crime.
anyone who excludes xenogenders, neopronouns, aromantics, asexuals, nonbinary folk, etc. from queer spaces & discussions.
anyone who is anti-therian, anti-alterhumanity, etc.
anyone on shedblr.
anyone who excuses racism, EVEN if it is in the form of "punching up"/attacking white + white PASSING folks. also, people who think that this form of racism can result in oppression. there is a fundamental difference between individual/interpersonal racism (can be directed toward anyone, including non-oppressed groups/majorities) & institutional/systemic racism (directed only towards minorities, cause of/results in oppression), and it is important to acknowledge all four.
DNF
anyone who either falls under these categories might be soft blocked and/or is on thin ice. you can still interact, just be mindful of our boundaries please.
anyone neutral on endos, willos, nontraumagenics, and nondisordered systems. if you are running a blog that is neutral for the sake of accessibility & not gatekeeping archival/resources, this is 100% fine with us and we do not mind you following our blog(s) either unless otherwise specified. otherwise, iwc.
jiraiblr. so long as your main blog is not used for jirai blogging, we are okay with you interacting with us. however for the sake of our mental health, we do not wish to DIRECTLY interact with blogs in that community for mental health & personal comfort reasons. if you notice that we've followed you, however, just know we've made an exception at our own personal discretion and we do not mind if you interact back. we just may not engage much and might unfollow if we need to. we've likely found you through a shared mutual.
people who use the proship label in the originally intended way are on thin ice. you won't necessarily be blocked on sight, but in our opinion, the definition has definitely been twisted into something else & we think that it's best to just say you are anti-harassment at this point due to the shift in language.
merry crisis
follower purge (again)
do not follow
minors, < 18 yo
basic dnf - anti-black people/culture, antisemitic, xenomisic, anti-immigration, saneist/ableist, queermisic, misogynist/misandrist, incels, people who say slurs
terfs, swerfs, radfems + transmed/truscum
anti sex ed, kink, and sex work
aspie supremacist + anti self-diagnoses, endo systems, etc
anti mogai/liom, pro lgbt exclusion
radqueer, xenosatanists, pro contact para / anti recovery
proship, profic, darkship, "dead dove" accs, and/or related shit
pro generative ai (including chatbots like c.ai)
and that's it for now :p
2024 DNF List
When the Stars go Dark, by Paula McLain- A period thriller that started to put the real life murder of a child (Polly Klaas) as part of the ongoing fictional investigation
Dearest, by Jackie Walters- Didn't like the audio reading
Body Neutral, by Jessi Kneeland- This is also on my read this because I got 75% of the way through before giving up on if the author would focus on external problems facing fat people
The Princess and the Goblin, by George McDonald- Very old fashioned writing so it's too slow and aimed too young for me
Voodoo Histories, by David Aaronovitch- The title is already iffy as a book about conspiracy theories, but I didn't need a white British man lumping the idea that the US government killed MLK together with moon landing theories
What Lies Between Us, by John Marrs- Seemed to be intent on demonizing the sluttiness of a teenage character despite knowing it's rape because the men she sleeps with are adults. Even though the book seems to be interested in the idea of mutual abuse or a level of justified abuse, the daughter character rarely feels like a real person, which takes away the nuance.
The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern- I knew this was a fantasy but not that it was a period romance, the hardest thing for me to read
Jaws, by Peter Benchley- Someone gets eaten by a shark and I'm supposed to spend several minutes of the beginning on the chief's wife's marriage insecurities?
Black Cake, by Charmaine Wilkerson- Didn't not finish by choice, it's just always got a long wait list and is easy to put off when it's on Hulu
The Girl in Red, by Christine Henry- It's only on ebook at my library, which is harder for me to finish
One of Our Own, by Lucinda Berry- Hated the audio production
The Genesis of Misery, by Neon Yang- I'm too Episcopalian for this book
The Fifth Season, by N.K. Jemison- Too apocalyptic for me, I am Not here for that existential dread
Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries, by Heather Fawcett- TOO BRITISH
Autonomous, by Annalee Newitz- Is really bad at writing slavery
Weyward, by Emilia Hart- It started engaging in a very pro-life narrative where the lead didn't want a baby and the pregnancy tied her to her abusive husband she was hiding from but she goes to a clinic where the nurses are openly judging her wanting an abortion and she's forced to see sonograms and oh my gosh these common manipulation tactics used in pregnancy crisis centers totally worked and now the lead will be happier for it

I want to know what books, if any, you've DNF'd this year!
Ooh only three!
Not In Love - Ali Hazelwood
Failure to Match - Kyra Parsi
The Ritual - Shantel Tessier
My standards are LOW lol but these were just not it for me.
Strange the Dreamer - Beautiful but I have DNFed it
I have seen Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor mentioned many times across all bookish social media platforms and I can see why it’s so popular. The world is incredible rich and lush and beautiful, however, I have read 180 pages and I have no interest in continuing this book. Why is that? Let me start by saying this is not because I dislike the book. On the contrary, I find it to be an…
