Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars "Many a choice is made in this way: by pretending it makes itself. And many a fate is decided by those who cannot decide." This was a stunning conclusion to this duology. The characters were developed in such a raw manner, with their flaws moving the plot in impactful ways. Every character evolved and changed throughout the narrative. I loved the omniscient third-person POV. In a single scene, we were able to switch between characters' minds and thoughts, so that we, the audience, understand the whole picture without disrupting the flow of action. A non-spoiler example of this is if a character is speaking another language, and only one other character speaks this language, we would travel to his mind and thoughts to understand the scene. It flowed so beautifully. It was so well-written and powerful. No notes, this was amazing. And you're telling me it's YA? I wish I discovered them years ago in my teen years, because if it was this impactful to me now… wow. This was my first of Laini Taylor's series/books, and I am now very interested in reading more!
