Chapter 9 - Whatever may come

Summary:

Following John Hastur’s disqualification from the GOMENS charity race because of drug charges (read more on page 23), Belle Ebuth, also known as Bee, starts this year’s Rally Championship as UK number one driver, followed closely by Toni Crowley.  Crowley, 28, hopes that their performance at the charity race will allow them to put an end to the dry spell that seemed to have struck last year, with only 5 wins through the whole championship. Whether they will compete under GOMENS sponsorship remains unsure as of today. Ebuth remains favourite to win in all next November (complete portrait on page 25). MotorSportToday, April 5 2024

Summary:

After competing in a rally race for charity and claiming victory with now life partner Toni Crowley, Aziraphale, also known as The Angel, continues to surprise us with his dance exhibition Leaving the Garden, blending together classical and modern dancing. The show offers a vast variety of costumes and references in a breathtaking staging, and Aziraphale’s own closing performance steals the show entirely, leaving the audience dazzled.  Aziraphale, born Ezra Fell, offers a beautiful, sincere and harrowing ode to resilience through two hours of code breaking dancing.  Leaving the Garden is without doubt a must see on the West End stage this winter.  West End Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hello my dear readers!!!

This chapter is the last one for this fic (if you're good, I might post some saucy NSFW extra scenes that I wrote, but it'll be in a few weeks)

And it's very very special.

Why? Because half of it (the entire Crowley POV at the beginning) was written by my good friend @searchingforakeythatdoesntexistand and translated by yours truly!! So, yeah. Not only does she make stunning illustrations, she's also a very skilled writer (go check her AO3, it's worth it!!!)

This chapter also comes with carefully selected musics so don't hesitate to click the footnotes (I broke my own head making them so...)

"Drive Me To The Moon", penultimate chapter next Saturday, 17th of August! (If you haven't started to read it yet, now is a very good moment!)

...Silence, only interrupted by the remnants of the whistle. Aziraphale raised the blindfold up on his forehead and his eyes fell on Crowley. His cheeks strewn with black shivered, and a soft, blazing, almost amazed smile lit up his eyes that had remained steel-like until now. Gone was the tortured, terrified expression of the performance's first minutes. What remained was the exaltation of the moment, a burning, feverish, devouring emotion. An aura that pierced through Crowley, setting them ablaze.

This expression, this smile, this look … Aziraphale usually kept it for the secrecy of their embraces.

Oh, fuck.

Aziraphale without doubt read the words on his lips, and the light in his eyes turned playful – provocative – for a brief moment.

The piano resumed, and Aziraphale too with it, his blindfold forgotten at the edge of the stage. The music turned spirited, frantic, definitely lighter. A cello, and other string instruments. For the first time, lyrics were heard, as tender, passionate and hopeful as Aziraphale’s dance had become.

But Crowley had recognized the music from the very first note...
