“Cas has meant a great deal to many, especially LGBT fans have seen themselves in him over the years. So now that he has confessed his love for Dean, and seemingly come out, how do you feel about his confession?”

I feel mostly good about it. I talked to Berens, about this ending, a year and a half ago. It was a long time in the making. It was really important to him and really important to me. When he pitched me the storyline it gave me chills. I thought - this is awesome. This vindication and this expression of love - at the end - it makes it all worth it. I was really happy about it. You know, it’s interesting, there are some fans who are asexual who have taken solace in the fact that Cas hasn’t made this kind of declaration [before] so I feel bad that those fans might get a little bit alienated. However, I’m sure that a lot of them are also okay with this. There’s a trope in Hollywood of “kill the gays” and so Cas meeting with his demise only seconds after making this homosexual declaration of love fits into that fairly insidious trope, however, for some reason, that is, in my mind, not really as important as the declaration itself. I completely understand people being upset over that. I think that, in the end, of Supernatural, everyone is going to die. I’ve always known that, that’s not a spoiler, I’ve always known that, it’s how the show has to end. But how they die and what quality that death takes has resonance and importance in the Supernatural universe. I think… In the end, that won’t prove to be the lasting point of Castiel’s. I know the intention in the crafting of the story wasn’t to use the “kill the gays” trope. Could Cas have lived in the space of having made that declaration in relation to Dean for longer before dying? Perhaps. But there’s something so dramatically poignant about that particular moment and that particular exit… I don’t know, I’m now getting a little bit too heavy about it.

If that confessional scene was truly the end of Castiel, and if his feelings were truly supposed to be unrequited, then why on earth would Jensen be offended/concerned/angered by that? I mean, it’s not like it’s something new. Castiel has said “I love you” before—maybe not as directly as this last time, but he’s said it. Plus, the idea that Castiel is in love with Dean has been part of the narrative practically since the beginning! “You must have me confused with the other angel, you know—the one in the dirty trench coat who’s in love with you?” and “You see, he has this weakness … he likes you” as well as “I was getting too close to the humans in my charge … you” and “He was your boyfriend first.” And let us not forget “And then—his true weakness was revealed: he’s in love … with humanity” and we all know that there are plenty more quotes like that.

Also, there have been numerous jokes and speculation from not only the fans, but the cast themselves about Castiel’s feelings, and those started years ago!

Jensen: “Where’s the gay angel?”

Misha: “You mean gay as in ‘happy’ right?”

Jensen: 😉

Jared: “Taste the rainbow” and “My episode would be called ‘Milk Run’ and Sam wouldn’t be in it … it’s just Cas and Dean … and there’d be a lot of BDSM.”

So, why would Jensen be upset about Castiel’s apparently one-sided confession … unless it was never meant to be one sided.

The only reason I can think of for Misha being worried about Jensen’s reaction, is if he was told at the beginning of season 15 that Castiel would not only confess his love for Dean, but also Dean would reciprocate it (in some way … maybe not physically, but he’d make it known that the feelings were mutual). I could see how Jensen might have a problem with that because he has been pretty adamant in the past that the script does not portray Dean as having feelings for Castiel, and he sees Dean as “a ladies man”, so to switch it up now—at the end of a show with such a long run that has been such a huge part of his life … might give Jensen pause. The writers would essentially be changing the entire focus of the show at the 11th hour, and as someone who also likes control, and can be pretty set in my ways myself, I can completely understand why Jensen might not be okay with that. However, according to Misha … Jensen was fine with "whatever" was proposed, so who knows.

Misha could have just been worrying for nothing (God knows I do that too) and the confession in the last episode was truly the end of it all; or … he was rightfully worried about how his best friend might react to such a drastic change to a character he’s been playing for nearly half his life.

i know im primarily a transformers blog (and that i haven't posted in a while) but im also a huge supernatural fan, and 15x18 had me DEAD bc,,, well destiel iS FUCKING CANON

i was so, SO heartbroken that cas died and that dean wasn't able to react or even process cas' confession because this man is EMOTIONALLY CONSTIPATED (anyone giving hate to jensen/dean about him being "homophobic" can get the hell out)

to cope with this, i've been aimlessly scrolling through tumblr reading anything to give me hope that cas is gonna come back and destiel is gonna be endgame. and i saw many many posts about DLC Online and how misha wasn't saying whether he was going to be in the last two episodes (which is an answer in itself) and thats when i remembered the description of this thursday's episode, 15x19, Inherit the Earth-
