Lookin' for a queer as fuck project to audition for or know someone who is? Do you like books you can read with your ears?
Oh boy have I got somethin' for you!
RECKLESS TRUTH is a contemporary fantasy looking for a diverse range of voice actors at any level of experience willing to commit to a relatively large audiobook project that I may call you back for future entries of.
As this is a story set in Scotland and America, most of the roles require actors who are either of those nationalities or able to convincingly affect an accent, but there are a couple of "any accent" and English accent roles.Â
All I really need from you is a decent quality mic (XLR ideally) and your voice!

[Image description: A reddit post, edited blackout-poetry style to read, "Dark skinned Elves are Elves. Diversity is entertainment. If you don't understand why you haven't put any thought on the issue."]
Y’all wanna know why marginalized communities don’t want to hear about how film studios only care about diversity? I’ll explain.
INTENT vs OUTCOME. When someone gives you unsolicited advice, it irritates you even though it was from a good place, right? When someone says something that offends you, even when they weren’t trying to, are you not still offended? They didn’t mean to make you feel the way they did, but they still did and they still owe you an apology, right? It doesn’t matter what they meant or the point they were trying to make, what matters is the words that came out of their mouth and how you feel. What matters is what HAPPENS not what was SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
People are always talking shit abt those who do community service and record to post online because there can be an argument made about only doing it for clout. To that I say, Homeless ppl are being fed, trash is being picked, who cares that you can see it on tik tok? Who cares that you’re hearing about it?
Intent doesn’t fucking matter. At the very least, it will NEVER be more important than outcome PERIOD. STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE US OTHERWISE. Poc don’t care that diverse casting is trend bcs guess what? We’re getting representation. We’re getting jobs that we were barred from. We have a bigger voice now, we have more influence, we have more power.
But you, as a white person, can’t see that nor do you give a single fuck. Nah, you just sick and tired of seeing all these ppl who don’t look like you and want it to stop. You’re uncomfortable bcs u can’t relate, not even realizing that what you’re feeling is only a fraction of the community you’re actively trying to fuck over. And you are trying to fuck us over.
Stfu with ur bs abt how these film studios don’t actually care. Do you?
Made an edit, that is a "Tribute to all the Diverse Cast" on #spn (made up to s13)
~~~Meaning Color, ethnicity, gender, any type of impairment, sexual orientation etc Diverse Cast is beautiful & we're honored to have had them as our #spnfamily
So, I've been poking around the Wheel of Time wikis to learn more about the verse to finetune my Lena au, and I have to say... the show did a really fantastic job developing a racially diverse cast. Most of the book and fan art used in the wikis depict white faces for nearly every goddamn character. Even from other kingdoms!
What's especially gratifying to me is that when we're at the White Tower, all of the Aes Sedai have retained their own personalities and cultural dress, but tailored to the color scheme if their aja. I saw braids, headscarves, tatoos, other decorations... usually when you see a high status group like that, it's more akin to a military, where individualism is stamped out to fit a neutral norm. I really liked that the Aes Sedai didn't follow that trope.
I also like that the writers didn't feel the need to hang a lantern on it. It simply was. Like the show was like, "this is my world, you little shits. Get on board or keep walking." Well, I'm 100% on board.
So yeah. A+ effort from the casting and wardrobe department.
When I first heard that they are looking for non-white actress for the Ciri, my first reaction, not gonna lie, was total wtf - how dare Netflix take away the girl which looked like me? How dare they, americans, come and take something dear to me to remake it into something I won’t recognise, what they, from ocean away, think it’s appropriate? Netflix, no, no, нет!
And then my brain started working properly. And I remembered who is Ciri’s father, and where he is from, and then I understood: Netflix could be right about this casting call. Actually, it could be amazing, because it fits the books well.
I even could explain why, and I will, but you know, I DO THIS WITH SPOILERS, BEWARE IF YOU CARE!Â
1) Ciri’s father is Emhyr var Emreis, and he is from Nilfgaard Empire, which is on south of continent.
2) In my humble opinion, Witcher books happen in kind-of-fantasy-medieval-Poland. You know what really cool country you could find on the map on the south from Poland, country, which many years ago was part of greater empire? Byzantine Empire. It was conquered by turks in 1453. Constantinople fall in that year partially led to Renaissanse in Italy, btw.
3) Origin of turkish people lead to Middle Asia (near Caspian Sea), from where they migrated to the modern Turkey, and where they become Muslims, that in some way also lead to them conquering lands and to Ottoman Empire (that’s really simplified and short version, therefore not really good, and it’s totally separated question if modern turkish people are european and white, which I’m not gonna discuss here now, because it’s damn complicated issue with a lot of contradicting each other points of view.)
4) Fall of Cintra in Witcher books always seemed to me a mirror of Constantinople fall in real life. I have no idea, if pan Andrzej have thought about this or not, he had many sources of inspiration. So if creators looking for diversity (and they should, because this world is diverse, but maybe not in a very american way) - this is how you can include it in. Code Nilfgaard as muslim (maybe or not arabic) country, cast middle eastern actors for this roles. Cast Emgyr not white and british.
Cast Ciri who do look like her father, cast ethnically ambiguous so it would be difficult for people to pick up who she is. Cast biracial actress. Cast turkish actress. Cast iranian actress. Cast jewish actress. There are plenty of options, which could enrich the narrative.
And note to future self: realistic wigs and hair dye exist, please think before you rage.Â
This castings are meant to help roleplays of all genres increase diversity and representation in their roleplays. All faceclaim suggestions include age range, gender, and ethnicity. Credit is not necessary but is appreciated.
