SUBJECT NUMBER 2Â â electric manipulation
...retrieving information.Â
Age: Twenty-four
Last Known Location: London [Currently in Seattle]
Face Claim: Jenna Louise Coleman
Preferred pronouns: She/her
In an electrically based world, it seemed only natural for there to be a Diver that could control electricity. This individual could cause blackouts, manipulate technology or even short wire someoneâs brain with the proper touch. The perfect weapon. They never anticipated the possible side effects of this ability.
Movement was essential for Subject Two. Staying still was not an option. She twisted and turned like the electricity in which she controlledâit was her form of survival. Her mind moved just as quickly, switching on and off switches in her brain too fast for anyone to follow. If they tried to get her to sit still, her fingers began to spasm, slowly developing a tic in her hand even when she was moving. Two never thought it was strange to be in a constant state of motion. It was natural for her and the more she accepted it, the easier it was for her to control her ability.
The scientists tried to find a way for her to control her tics, but whenever they gave her pills, it made her control of her ability worse. She tried it anyway, knowing that they were only trying to help her. However, one day when she was bathing, she was manipulating the electricity in the lamp and the next thing she knew, her entire body was electrically charged and she had short circuited herself in the water. They warned her that she should be more careful and in her anger, she caused a blackout, telling them that she would never take another one of their pills again.
As time progressed, they found her more difficult to control. In class, her mind hardly ever could focus and everything they told her went in one ear and out the other. She could barely sit still for the tests they gave her and the more tests they gave her, the more frustrated she became. If they made her angry enough, she would short circuit their computers and if they annoyed her, she gave them a shock. Despite all of the punishments they gave her, she was a free spirit and ultimately did what she wanted to do, when she wanted to do it. The facility had to create rubber coatings around their computer systems to stop her from ruining them and even forced her to wear rubber gloves, but she always found a way out of them, her mischievous nature causing her to get in and out of trouble easily.
However, they eventually gained the upper hand once they realized that she had developed a fear of water. At first it was mere caution, but eventually she became afraid of even using the bath and kept her showers as short as possible. They used this fear as a way to punish her forcing her to comply with them. She began to resent them for their threats and while they managed to contain her, she knew that they couldnât control her for longânot while they were also teaching her how to use her ability.
When the sirens dragged her out of her normal video game hour, she wondered what could possibly bring so much chaos, but mainly why wasnât she a part of it. She ran in head first, but before she could get into the fight, she was pulled away with a promise of freedom. Two went without hesitation.
The way that Harleyâs ability works, is that she manipulates the electrical currents already present, generally speaking the electricity present in the air and magnifies it to what she wants it to be. Sometimes, she uses the electricity within her body while it tends to not be as powerful, it makes her negatively charged, giving a small shock to most people who touch her, Due to the constant movement of electricity, Harleyâs ability to control it correlates with her movements. This is presented in pacing, blinking, and/or finger tics. When they do occur, it cannot be controlled and if she tried to stop the movements, she charges herself up and can release an electric pulse that has the potential to kill someone if they were to touch her. The tics tend not to last longer than a few minutes, unless she had used a great amount of electricity, in which case it can linger for several hours.
Applications wise, Harley can charge objects with electricity, making them heat up and or shock people. This charge on technology can either give it a full charge or short circuit it. With enough electricity around her, she can solidify it to make constructs, but these are very dangerous and unstable, generally exploding when someone manages to touch it. On a passive level, she can feel and sense the electricity around her, sensing where people are by identifying the electrical currents in their bodies.
Her main weakness is water. Considering that she tends to be negatively charged, any form of water can send a shock through her and being completely drenched in it can cause her to have a heart attack. Her ability is not useful against any electrical resistant material such as rubber and can even be redirected back to her with the right object. She is not immune to the power of electrical currents. She can absorb more energy than any normal human, but if she absorbs too much, she can potentially kill herself.

But she never quite realized what freedom truly meant. The world was larger than she ever anticipated and she wanted to explore it. But she wasnât free, not really. These new people told her that they needed her to stay in this new city for her own safety while they taught her how to defend herself. She dove head first into the studies, hoping that by proving herself, they might let her go explore everywhere around her. But they kept saying not yet. Growing irritable, she decided that she had to do something with all her pent up energy and she definitely couldnât go to school like the others did. Luckily, the bar down the street was hiring. When they gave her the name tag with Harley etched on it, it all became very real. She was free from VINCERET.
Her constant state of movement was good in the bustle of the bar and no one ever gave her a strange look if her hand happened to spasm every once in a while. The more she jumped into this new life, the more she wanted to forget about her old one. She kept herself in the present and the future, mapping out different places she would go once she was given the chance. She wanted a postcard from every country and to try a different food from every city she visited. Seattle was fun, but she knew that there was always something better out there for her to see. For now, she tried to be patient as she saved up her money, but there is still a lingering thought in the back of her headâwill these people ever let her leave?
