America sucks right now, there’s no question about it. There’s a lot more #badnews than #goodnews. I remember growing up watching World News programs with my mom, and I distinctly remember how BAD everything seemed after 9/11. What I remember most is that the program made it a point to always have a “Now for some Good News” segment at the end, after all the bad had been debriefed. I’d like to apologize to anyone who mistakenly believes I do not support #blacklivesmatter because my “content isn’t only about #BLM.” I’m sorry my take on providing “good news” (or just something different) may not always be full of #allyship, but I firmly believe we all need a little break every once in a while. I’m personally very tired of losing friends and family for being TOO vocal about activism, #socialjustice, and supporting BLM, then turning around and continuing to lose other friends who feel I’m not supportive ENOUGH. Social media is a plague. What one does on social media is not the full extent of their life, beliefs, or what work they’re doing in their community. Think privately about former friends you may have written off because they distinctly choose NOT to get political on social media; they’re privately calling their representatives, buying from POC businesses, donating to the cause, doing things that they don’t feel (and should never feel) need to be publicized on social media. I’ll add the falsely supportive influencers who dress in gala-level clothes, show up at a march or protest, take a key photo by a sign that matches their outfit, and leaves the event as a direct comparison. Which one are you still following on Insta? Oh, and not that I should ever feel the need to share this, but yes, I AM still calling my reps, buying black, and donating time where I can. Rant over. I’ve had this dress for a few years now; it was the right length for #DisneyLook, but I always had to keep a blazer on to cover my shoulder (& give me pockets to carry all my crap 🙄). Adding this @prosperitydenim #jacket gives this dress a whole new look! . . Both of these pieces came to me via Stitch Fix. While the clothing brands themselves are socially acceptable (as far as I know); I can no longer support Stitch Fix as a company. @stitchfix made a decision to LAY-OFF most of its California workers. California by design was Stitch Fix’s most diverse sector; most of the employees laid off are women, and many are people of color. Stitch Fix then proceeded to donate money to various #blacklivesmatters organizations, and brag about it on their social media platforms. This is FALSE SUPPORT; you cannot lay-off black workers, then donate to a cause & “break even.” Furthermore, Stitch Fix didn’t want to pay California’s “high” living wage, so they’re hiring people in “cheaper” areas to replace the work force they just laid off.
