genuinely tell me why i have been seeing such an increase of thinly-veiled (as in, the veil is hardly there, it's translucent) racism towards desis and latinas on my tiktok fyp??
i keep seeing videos set to this one audio, it's a bass boosted song that i can't make out and in the middle of it you can hear a woman say, "dude" in a stereotypical 'latina accent.' i'll then open the comments to see people posting an image of a latina woman photoshopped to have a double chin (because obviously they have to fit in some fatphobia too) with the caption "dude"
genuinely tell me that isn't just racist. and the people who rifle through comment sections going "it's not that deep you're making everything about race!!" meanwhile you have whatever the fuck is mentioned above going on.
onto the anti-desi racism, it's just awful. it's so malicious and so prevalent especially on tiktok and instagram; you'll see a video of some guy literally just making street food and everything looks completely normal, meanwhile the comments are just plagued with people saying it looks dirty, saying they'd get a disease if they ate it, and other horrible shit. i'll also see a video of an indian beauty influencer who doesn't have any makeup on for about ten seconds at the start of the video and the comments will be calling them dirty and ugly??
people are so fucking oblivious and apathetic to blatant and vicious racism seeping into everyday humour and conversation. if you make fucking 'fake indian' accounts ill kill you with a gun
