I find it wild how peole defending that video try to make a connection between amab nonbinary people feeling excluded and the Enby discourse like Iām an amab nonbinary person and I find the weird wave of backlash against Enby et all more alienating than anything

Honestly, by now I kinda regret going off as aggressively as I did but I stand by my point because of exactly this. Amab peeps feeling excluded from the community is a valid point to criticize but conflating it with other - significantly less valid - issues isn't the way to go.

Hey I just wanted to let you know that your response to the video is completely valid! It's true that it isn't okay to gatekeep or try to do the whole "respectability" thing cause that just causes a rift between the community as a whole! It's just that in this case, I think this is more about the fact that the second person disregarded day, the first person's preferences? Not everyone likes to be called enby, I most certainly just use nonbinary. It's more so of the generalization of how the nonbinary experience is? I do enjoy the "frog nb" or "possum nb" thing, I think it's fun and nice for others to indulge and feel comfortable in! I don't think the video was meant to be an attack on the people who like that, more so of a "to treat this specific thing as The nonbinary experience can alienate other nb people from the community" but I can... understand how it could be interpreted like that? Y'know, the first time I saw the video I thought that, too, that it's about being ignorant of the first person's preferences. Which would be a fair point, definitely.
But the overall setup of the video, the tone of voice, and especially the caption "and y'all wonder why we feel alienated and excluded" emphasize the effect the second person's behavior supposedly has (in regards to cishet opinions on nb people) rather than the first person's label.
Basically, the subtext of the video isn't so much "don't use a term for me that I don't like" but rather "stop being cringey, you're making nb people look bad". And that's why I went off.
And also, like. If the person in question doesn't vibe with "frog enbies", they should go find other friends instead of making mean posts on the internet. Men who aren't into sports also just go hang out with other no-sports men, instead of whining "you being soccer-obsessed alienates us from the male community".

Iāve been debating whether to even answer this, because itās going to cause some backlash, but what the hell; Iām having a slow night.
Personally, I donāt like starker content.
However, #1: The picture in question is of Tony wearing Stephen Strangeās Cloak of Levitation. Regardless of how the OP tagged it, thereās no hint of Peter anywhere in the art, much less anything shippy having to do with him. No one who looks at that art on my blog is going to get a starker vibe from it.Ā I mentioned the ironstrange ship in my own tags, but the only way theyāll even see the OPās starker tag is if they click through to the original. I donāt know about the rest of tumblr, but I almost never click through to originals unless thereās a readmore link. So I feel okay having the art on my blog, no matter what its original tags were.
However, #2: Iām not going to get involved in Discourse(TM) about the starker ship. There are a lot of ships I donāt like, for one reason or another. My reaction to them is to... not engage with them. I blacklist the tag or unfollow the creators, and get on with my life. I donāt like starker myself, but Iām glad the starker fans are out there having fun. Yes, I see why it might be problematic and even triggering for some people. I am not one of those people. (tbh, I had a much worseĀ reaction to the brief flare of Clint/Loki fics after the first Avengers movie. At least starker fans arenāt starting from a canonĀ relationship of violation and abuse.) Iām on tumblr for a good time. Itās my escape from the ugliness of the real world. I curate my experience accordingly, and Iām not about to try to tell anyone else what they should or should not enjoy.
Summary, for you and everyone else reading: You donāt have to worry about seeing starker content on my blog. But donāt expect me to help demonize the people who like and/or create for the ship, or to take down something I liked enough to reblog because someone elseĀ tagged it that way.

Despite belonging to one of those groups, I stand by my view that these are not particularly offensive, in fact they usually crack me the fuck up
but I do think we need to be specific when what we really mean is āpeople who buy really hard into societyās fucked-up, romantic-comedy-style ideas of love and genderā because 9/10 times thatās what the posts are actually trying to lampoon, not so much just... people who are straight
Yeah, thatās going to be more prevalent in people who have never had to question all that (such as The Straights(tm)) but it is certainly a risk anyone could fall into because that shit is pervasive. You can still have fucked-up ideas of love and gender if youāre LGBTQIA+. In fact that can be kind of a problem in our communities and people can get hurt by it so just like... be aware of that and be cautious of passing around the idea that weāre immune
(If youāre just mad about the funny jokes though then plz take it easy, go ahead and feel some momentary embarrassment and then itās ok to just laugh it off guys)
