1. three songs that come up when you put your phone on shuffle
one grain of sand by ron pope, reason to believe by bruce springsteen, and 21 guns by green day. also side note whenever i do this it freezes my phone because apparently spotify cannot handle all my liked songs?? i dont know. but it worked for us today :)
7. three songs you didn’t expect to like but eventually loved
literally anything synthpop/anything by pet shop boys. we can say paninaro 95. el elogio de la sombra by david cordero because im not usually into ambient stuff but i really like his album that this is on (honne). and uhh i wish i was stephan malkmus by beabadoobee because all i had known about her before listening to this song was her viral tiktok song which i do not like so i was suprised to find and enjoy this song.
10. three favorite Halloween/spooky songs
i feel like i dont really associate a lot of songs with halloween....the ghostbusters theme song? witchy woman by eagles i guess because it says witch? and touch-a touch-a touch me from rocky horror (this will be stuck in my head now!). if those count? i do like them all!
the candy darling cover of that album drew me in (I am a bird now) but I just couldn’t get into it! I’ve never been a big fan of Antony and the Johnsons even though I tried to get into them (and her other work) a bunch
same hat! i put it on my to-listen list like a month ago (honestly no idea why) and just randomly decided to listen to it today while i play minecraft. its nice! but i dont think its really my thing either...i like a few of the songs and i like her voice but it’s just a type of folky that feels very drawn out (to a point of tedium? idk?) to me...i don’t know. we’ll see if i come back to it later and it clicks. but the cover is lovely! and i like the name a lot. :)
what are your thoughts are on desolation row as a mcr cover? maybe this is just middle school me talking, I do think it maybe surpasses the original at least in sheer replayabilty for me personally (bob dylan fans don’t kill me). It’s just more fun and that’s really all it takes for me at this point.
i LOVE desolation row as an mcr cover!! idk how much of it is that i heard the mcr version first so maybe it became the “template” but i also think it’s more replayable (also could be middle school me talking). i like a lot of things about it - the faster tempo, gerard way’s voice with some bite to it, i really love the guitar interpretation of the harmonica - and it definitely brings out an energy that’s not present in the original. idk if this makes sense but mcr’s version feels more active to me. dylan sounds more like he’s telling us a story. i also...really don’t love bob dylans voice so i’m much more likely to listen to 3min mcr version than an 11min dylan version no matter how much i like all the other verses. uhh i’m not sure i’d go so far to say that mcr’s take surpasses the original perhaps because they are quite different and i think maybe knowing dylan’s version adds to knowing the mcr take? but i def listen to the mcr version more and agree that it’s more fun. they just fufill such different purposes? feelings? maybe
