I don't get the hate behind the 2026 reboot Toby...

There is a dvd in Japan dedicated to Edward and Toby (it’s a best of dvd for each of them, my guess is they didn’t have enough episodes for solo dvds so they got 4 each (ironically the screenshots used for them on the cover are from episodes not actually featured (Toby feels left out and Edwards brass band respectively))

Context is the prequel post from the "I sold Toby's clothes on Ebay" saga:

"Then it's settled! I get a new sibling, and so does Diesel. ..if you don't mind that too, of course.."

"I don't mind.. It'll feel nice t-to have siblings.. ..like you two.."

"And both of us will make sure that everyone on this fair isle we live on is nice to ya too. They won't like to see what'll happen if they're not!"

"Oh..! W-well.. ..thank you.. ..Mavis..~"

"By the way, Cassie.."

"Y-yes..?"

"Because we now know each other thiiiis much, you can call me 'Mavie'! I don't mind in the slightest!"

"A-alright..! ..M-Mavie..!"

"Is...that a three-chime steam whistle..? On your roof..?"

"Uh.. ..yes.."

"I was once fitted with one of those while my bell was being fixed. All that was going through my mind after being told about how loud it was, was that I was going to go through the remainder of the day being as slow and careful as possible so I didn't have to use it.."

"..there were cows on the track, and when they didn't move, I.. ..had to use it to get them to move.. ..not the best position to be in, but I had little choice.."

"Oh.. ..oh dear.. Did they move, or..?"

"Only after I both used the loudest whistle ever fitted to tram engine, and gave one of them a careful push with my cowcatcher.. To say that I hated every moment would be an understatement.."

"I can tell.."

"So how long did you have yours? And how many times have you used it?"

"I've had it since my own bell broke in a way that couldn't be fixed, and I only use it when I need to be heard.. ..it also gets used by surprise when I get scared.."

"Would...you ever want another bell..? I think you'd look good with one. You can still have the whistle alongside it too. You wouldn't be alone there either - there's several engines here that have more than one way to make themselves heard."

"Oh.. Well, I don't know if I would like to have that sort of thing, but next time I go to the Steamworks, I'll find out from the red engine in there.. Maybe he'll have an extra bell I can try out."

"If he does, then I'll make sure to be around for the first time that you ring it!"

"And I'll make sure to not ring it until I find you!"

ik i already sent you my toby design a while back but to be fair this is his magical girl-like outfit bc my ttte au is basically just the engines becoming magical girl like fighting whatever threats come around >.<

Don't worry, Thomas doesn't have rabies or anything. We think.
