S5 was simply nothing that stranger things was supposed to be. The fact that the show ended on conformity and everyone became something they never wished to become is distasteful on so many levels.
All because the duffers are miserable people who rather please a GA over the show that was originally made for outcasts. But as a result of their carelessness tone deaf writing they instead hurt so many people. Giving a message that shows āat the end of the day. Youāll never get what you wantā all around.
Women, POC, queer, victims, and all these groups and so many more were treated disrespect. It wasnāt just about Byler like people think most people think it is.
It was a lot more than just that. It wouldāve been a statement for the younger people of our generation and made a movement towards progression rather than regression.
Itās a shame.
No wonder Rossās wife divorced him. Heās a sad pitiful man.

honestly, i think at this point RTD has long ago spent all his ideas for Doctor Who during his first era, and any gems that do happen feeling like outliers
the last two series feel like more of the same sort of bullshit he had 2005 to 2010, but less polished and not as up to date with the era of television that we are currently in
doesn't help he doesn't seem to have adapted to the whole 8 episode series thing very well (it really feels like he should be writing less episodes a series, not over three quarters of a whole series)
Hello, Iāll rant for two seconds Iām sorry Iām frustrated.
I gave in recently and I went to see the f1 movie. I honestly didnāt expect anything from it. Already knowing that the competent woman who was a technical director had been reduce to a love interest for the Main Character didnāt foresee anything good, but still. Someone offered to pay my place so I went.
Iāll add that itās totally fine if you like that movie! You may just want to skip my rant then. There will be spoilers and there will be criticism.
For me : Why F1 the movie isnāt a good movie for F1 fans, but beyond that not even a good representation of the sport ?
First of all, letās say I went to watch the movie with two friends, one who didnāt know much about f1, and she loved it! So thatās it I thought. The core audience isnāt F1 fans. I guess even knowing that wouldnāt have prepared me for what I was about to watch if Iām honest.
My advice to f1 fans who go watch the movie : do it with a friend who knows about the sport as well! That way you can whisper comments to each other and side eyes as you realize this movie sometimes has no idea how the sport it represents works!
So ahem yeah. On that note, Iām a bit baffled that so many F1 fans seem to have enjoyed it. I get that weāre supposed to āturn off our F1 brainā and just enjoy the ride, but I canāt fully separate my passion for the sport from how I experience something like this. If I have to approach an F1 movie with humor just to tolerate the inaccuracies, that already says something about the filmās shortcomings.
If weāre fair to this movie, there were some positives! the race footage looked great, the cinematography captured some exciting moments, and a few scenes had a solid music atmosphere. The movie definitely had a lot of (unused) potential.
Here are the elements that didnāt sit right with me starting by a big one : the women representation is horrendous.
One is a mechanic who messes up and needs a pep talk from a man; the other is a technical director who literally gets her job explained to her⦠by a man. Women are already underrepresented in F1, and this felt like a slap in the face. It was like the film was saying, āF1 is for men; women are here to cry or be love interests.ā Thatās not just dated, itās insulting. Letās add that the technical director has a romance with her driver, romance that serves to nothing and leads to nowhere so it could as well have not existed, but it still was here. Guess why? Because women = romance.
That Iāll admit is a point that already shaped my opinion a lot about this movie. And itās a point quite a lot of people donāt care enough about. Itās quite sad to see but we canāt change mentalities anyway.
Even putting that aside, letās talk about the most terrible aspects of this movie. The comprehension of the sport.
Thereās no quali. Ok I guess they didnāt have time to add it. Itās a shame when itās quite a big aspect of the sport, but weāre not aiming at accuracy anyway. Okay but what about blatant cheating then? Isnāt it wild?
Even more as the cheating is being openly discussed over the radio? Really? I know itās not a documentary, but when youāre introducing a sport to a wider audience, you should at least represent its core values. Instead, this gives newcomers a completely warped idea of how F1 works. You mean thatās some peopleās first introduction to the sport? āWow this team uses an underdog strategy, they make their driver wait in the pitstop until the leaders of the race arrive and then they block and slow them because blue flags donāt exist in this alternate universeā. Iām not asking for a documentary, but itās basic rules. How far are we supposed to go to make a sport entertaining to the eyes of others? Should it be entirely to the expense of the sport itself?
And letās be real, the Main Character would have been banned by the FIA multiple times in like one or two races, not to mention probably fired for repeatedly ignoring team orders. Oh but I forgot, the FIA doesnāt exist in that alternate universe, or they were all in vacations or on sick leave who knows.
I really wanted to like this movie, but there were several moments where I genuinely considered walking out because I couldnāt believe what I was watching. No other film has ever made me feel like that. My non-F1 friend had a great time, and thatās fine, but as a fan, this movie left a really sour taste. To me, this movie doesnāt get nearly the criticism it should be having.
I love Lewis, and I canāt believe he was involved in this movie, I hope he was just a figure head, because many things in this movie are just terrible. This is undignified compared to who he is and to his values. I canāt believe he did much except answer a question or two. Because a movie with plot points like women are incompetent and need men to tell them what to do in a sport that is f1, that has been man dominated for decades and where women are still currently making their place, itās sickening. And thatās just one of the things that is wrong with this movie.
So yeah it has had potential, it could have been so much better, and itās a big disappointment.
My opinion doesnāt mean that Iām telling you what to feel about this movie. You are allowed to like it if you do, you are allowed to totally disagree with what Iām saying, but Iāll stand by my words.
I probably forgot many things like the plot being weak the calendar out of order etc but Iāll end the rant there see ya š
Clamp mangas, shows like BNS, YOI and Hannibal ruined shipping for me because all the ships have so much going on in canon. I dont need to do some mental gymnastic in order to see things in romantic light, they already are. That's why nowadays I see fanbases screaming crying throwing up how some ship is 300% canon, I go watch said (usually mainstream popular shonen/seinen) show expecting some insane levels of homoeroticism and devotion only to see two dudes standing beside one another
