It was during a time of deep mourning in my own life—over a really special pet I had grown up with who lost her battle against cancer, and of my “old life” as I was adjusting to my new normal of illness and disability. One year ago… Posted @withregram • @katesykes Some screenshots from my very first #selftape / #audition ! Everything that could possibly go wrong with this...did! Other than the fact that I wasn’t as good as I wanted to be to start with, I was reminded of how bad my speech was and it really knocked me. Everyone thinks their voice sounds different on a recording but for me, what Im saying always sounds much clearer in my head so it was like watching a different person. Anyway, after some tears were shed and being ready to give up, I took a break and remembered why I was doing this in the first place: I loved the character and the project and the opportunity to audition for some of the top casting directors doesn’t come along often (never for me!) It was about the experience. Not what happens next. I got my butt in gear and got it done, and I’m so glad I did! I was so close to pulling out and in the end, I did the best I could.
