Dignity Cap
Coming in for a landing. Knitting my Dignity Cap isn't difficult, but I chose to write needle-by-needle instructions along the way. I figure that knitters who aren't familiar with helical knitting might appreciate it.

Observed the equinox by knitting at Jackson Beach. The helical body of my Dignity Cap is finished! Crown decreases are next.
Autumn has been my favorite season for as long as I can remember, but this year it feels like we're taking refuge in Helm's Deep before Saruman's Uruk-hai attack.
We had a nearly cloudless sky and still water, so my time-lapse video only really shows the cluster of sails milling about near Dinner Island - young sailors, judging by their sudden, excited shouts of "Starboard! Starboard! Starboard!" - and senior folk making their way down to the water and back. Of course, fanciful driftwood structures dot the beach.
Ferry Knitting
For my mother’s birthday I like to do things she might have enjoyed. Yesterday was one of those golden autumn days that was perfect for knitting on the interisland ferry. The sky was magnificent, and my Dignity Cap design sample (size L worsted) is ready for crown decreases. Happy birthday, Mama.

Brightening a rainy day by working on the ribbing of my latest Dignity Cap sample (size L in DK) from this cheerful colorway of Fidalgo Artisan Yarn's Merino DK (0222 Coral). My bony little buddy is certainly earning his keep. 💀 🧶
Dignity Cap
One last afternoon of porch knitting for astronomical summer 2025. Finished knitting all 3 inches of 1x1 ribbing for the sport weight Dignity Cap that I'm designing.
It was 67° outside, so basking in the sun recharged me. Birds were birding - geese, corvids, and others, including the mechanical kind taking off from the nearby airport.

Swatching on double-pointed needles (DPNs) for another Dignity Cap in sport weight yarn. Twelve variants (3 sizes in 4 yarn weights) will take time, but it’s consistent with my desire to publish patterns that let you knit the yarn you have.
The colors are subdued (sorry, @teevee01) but they suit my cozy chair hot drink golden nearly-cool autumn afternoon feels.

Working on my Dignity Cap design size L in sport weight yarn, also known as knitting in the afternoon sun on the porch, giving intention to each stitch.

Swatchy swatchy colors. 😀 Knitting tubes to determine gauge for the next sample of my Dignity Cap. DK yarn from my mother's stash (bottom) is heavier than more recent yarn like the 006 Highland and 015 Mamalade colorways of Jody Long's Alba DK. Curious. Maybe it's because the older yarn is from Norway and was made more than fifteen years ago?
