Writing exercise for when you have no idea what to write but still want to, but also need to write yourself into more information about a character or a relationship, or just want to get better at writing with a specific character voice:
Pick a scene from a recent project, or the last thing you wrote.
Rewrite it using another character as the focalizer (i.e. write from another character’s point of view) and see what that changes.
Look for: do they notice different things? do they understand different things from what transpired? do they communicate in different ways? And what do these things say about the new character?
Edited to add: this scene from another character’s point of view shouldn’t be included in the story. that’s just annoying. This is for practice.
To be treated with respect and tenderness while aroused...I mean that was a new experience. I had only seen men and women, but especially men, turn into these brainless excited animals when aroused. It was a really unique experience to be with someone who was passionate and into me but still extremely considerate and respectful. I don't know...maybe I've just not been with the right people. Maybe the media never depicts it right. Maybe, just maybe... it's not this animalistic instinct but connecting on pure emotion that makes it a beautiful thing.

Do i think Virgil is toxic? No. Do i think that the way he is protrayed is as accurate as heavy amounts of anxiety actually is? Absolutely not. At moments yes, but that amount of anxiety has me way worse that what is actually shown. Is there a way to do that every episode when there is a different point to each and every one? No. The series is different to how life actually is, if Virgil was actually high amount of anxiety the episode would get nowhere.

I would just like to give a huge shoutout to and recommend watching Jubilee’s YouTube channel. They have these video series called Middle Ground and Spectrum. They bring in regular people with multiple similar and different experiences and have them discuss current issues or hot topics. The discussions never get out of hand. I just love that they’re not scared to bring up these major issues that people are scared to talk about and give people with opposing views a place to discuss their feelings and beliefs without being judged or disrespected.
