got any advice, followers?

well, let's see. have you tried leaving notes for them at all? do you know if anyone's ever come out? the biggest thing i can suggest when it comes to opening up lines of system communication is leaving notes, honestly. whether they're on paper or on the computer, i know that they can really help people. you could try asking them about themselves, or if there's anything they're willing to say. maybe they know a better way to communicate so that you can actually talk to them. i don't know if that helps at all? but i hope it does. :)

it is indeed possible to dissociate without switching. dissociation is on a spectrum and everyone dissociates to some extent (see the highway hypnosis effect, and how people can read a book or get engrossed in something and not realize hours have passed). but even past that, it's common especially for people who already have disociative disorders to dissociate. switching isn't required at all to dissociate.

just thought i'd add some posts about DID, whether because of research or info, or whatnot :)

you could try leaving out  notes or a journal, perhaps? leave out things so they know it's okay to communicate by writing out here, either in a notebook or on your computer, maybe? that might help you find out more about them. :)

to be honest…that’s a hard question. you could try asking said alter or around in your system [whether by internal communication or leaving notes around, etc.]. usually at least someone knows, i think. or well, time will tell, i guess? i’m afraid i’m kind of stuck on any sort of conclusive way to tell beyond that.

yes, it is possible for an alter to have a nightmare. i know in our system, there are several people who have nightmares, whether separately or affecting my own dreams.

I don’t think that it’s something that only occurs for people with DID, but yes, I would say that’s relatively common. I know we have a lot of trouble concentrating, and a lot of our friends with DID are the same way. What say you, followers? :)

Oh, that’s a difficult question, Anon. I…think that it would be possible, yes. I could see someone with no trauma history reaching for something to explain things like that. But I know it can also happen where a person thinks they are a natural multiple with no trauma history, and it turns out that actually, their multiplicity was caused by trauma, and they didn’t know it. So it’s a tricky sort of thing, I think, unfortunately. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
