Finished reading what moves the dead 👍 the first book I've read in one day since I did and then there were none last year. There's something delightful about a moreish read, a book that won't let you put it down til it's done. Very nice

I finally finished listening to the fall of the house of usher, and my impressions go thusly:
- Once again, when it comes to poe works, I struggle to find someone reading it as I prefer. I got someone who did it mostly right this time, so that's good, but if I want it done exactly to my tastes I think I'll have to do it myself.

- We learn almost nothing abt her save for her appearance, health, and Roderick's fascination with her, and I am endlessly fascinated
- I understand that most adaption of the fall of the house of usher expand the cast of characters, but for me, this story is defined by its lack of cast. It's just the narrator, Roderick, unnamed, ghostly staff, and Madeline. This, paired with the broad sense of place (the estate and the inhospitable lands outside) lends an empty, haunted, crumbling air. It almost feels like Roderick and Madeline are already dead, and just waiting for the narrator to arrive to re-enact their last days.
- all in all its not my favourite work, but I think given time and analysis and my own recording of it, I could grow to really like it
