Mkay, so I'm not sure if the information regarding all of the events happening in Turkey are as hazy as they were about a week ago, but I managed to get some information off of my friend living there (who speaks fantastic English) he says, "Tayyip ErdoÄŸan is the current leader here.He is a dictator, and trying to break down the republic system. Some army commanders tried to stop him, but he arrested them all. But a few time ago, he wanted to break some trees and make an AVM there. No one allowed."
When I then asked about how he was a dictator, he stated, "He disabled the army while there was a terror in the east. Also, he is religious and tried to break Ataturk system."
When I asked for more information on the Ataturk system, he told me I should do my own research, but proceeded to tell me a small bit of useful information. "In the system that Ataturk made out, there's: Cumhuriyetçilik, halkçılık, milliyetçilik, laiklik etc. in it. Cumhuriyetçilik is about republic, Halkçılık supports the citizens, but the important one is Laiklik here. It means religion and work is diff.It means you can't pray while doing the work or something like that. Uhm. Well, it's just nice to see that good people are not sleeping in this country."
It was clear that he was having difficulty phrasing it all, and even though his English was very good, I didn't ask him anymore.
