Concept: antibacterial alpha saliva. Hear me out!

So my thought here is that when an alpha is ready to bond with an omega they might produce some kind of disinfecting effect in their saliva, which would basically make their fangs sterilized before they go in

The wounds they leave behind still heal under a normal timeframe. So I was thinking it's a sign of devotion or love for an alpha to continue taking care of their omega's wound personally after mating. So a particularly devoted alpha would spend days afterward checking the wound and licking and kissing at their partner's neck to keep it clean until it's fully healed.

Of course if an alpha didn't want to do that then they could just take care of it normally. So like, if for example an omega was bitten by someone they didn't know then they'd have to disinfect and bandage it themselves. But I think if they do it that way it never quite heals right. Like, you can always tell when a bond scar was healed by an alpha vs. when a bond scar is healed without an alpha.

Whiiiiich leads to lots of social stigma/judgement toward both alphas and omegas. Like, if the couple is still together then a poorly healed bond scar will have people judging the alpha for being an inattentive or uncaring partner. If they're not together then maybe an omega is pitied or judged for choosing poorly and being left by their bondmate.

So ways I could totally make this about my ships:

1 Angsty Dimidues where Dedue marks Dimitri just before sacrificing himself to save Dimitri during the time skip. Dimitri has to heal the wound all by himself, complicated further by him being on the run with very little in the way of supplies, which leads to it looking pretty gnarly.

That's partially why he wears high necked shirts/armor after the timeskip. Partially because he doesn't want anyone to know, and partially because looking at Dedue's mark hurts too badly. Once they're back together he fiercely defends Dedue against anyone who would judge him for the way the mark looks

2) Soft Dimidues where Dedue takes the best damn care of that bond mark and Dimitri constantly brags and gushes and shows it off to everyone so they know how wonderful Dedue is

3) Maybe some angsty Sylvixes where Sylvain marks Felix during a rut and then doesn't remember it later. Felix takes care of it himself and hides it from Sylvain for years

Sylvain discovers it eventually, but doesn't realize it's his mark, and is ready to rip whichever asshole did that to Felix to shreds (surprise! it's you, asshole!)

4) Fluff-angst Leokumis where Leo takes the best damn care of that bond scar, but partially because he's traumatized from Garon being such an asshole. Garon never took care of anyone he marked so they always wound up with gnarly looking scars. The court judged them very harshly for it

after a week of doing absolutely nothing other than play hsr I finally sketched something

now back to screaming about how in love I am with this fictional character (gepard)
