Do people genuinely think that kids who are trafficked are locked away in cages like a fucking zoo or is that just movies upping for the drama- No?? Trafficking is complex and blurry, its family, friends, partners, people you trust. They lure, bribe, threaten, hurt and steal. Its abuse with a monetary twist to it. Rings dont often involve the cut and dry "smuggle em in boxes" shit. Its drugging a child and pretending its yours and taking a regular economy flight. Thats why at the airports they talk to children. TALK. TO. CHILDREN. Talk to ANYBODY who seems excessively reliant on someone their with, someone who has seemingly no belongings, someone who looks out of place and out of it, be AWARE god fucking help me. Life isnt the movies, life isnt cut and dry. Victims aren't perfect, criminals aren't stupid, humans are the worst species. Being human doesnt mean being moral. The AMOUNT of times ive spoken to airline / bus service workers about someone I suspect is being trafficked, been brushed off, and then been RIGHT is blood boiling. If i wasnt the type to make a fuss till i get my way, chances are i wouldve left it at that. Not to toot my own horn but thank fuck I am the way I am.

I'd rather be seen as a Karen kicking up a fuss over a sleepy child than go home knowing I potentially let a child be trafficked. Be. A fucking. Karen. If a child or a person seems out of it, their clothes are mismatched and ill fitting, they seemingly have no belongings, they can't speak for themselves, their appearance is obscured, theyre reliant on someone theyre with etc, TALK. make a fuss, ask questions, please I beg let's be useful beyond reblogging bots pretending to be victims endlessly. Online activism does wonders, but everything pales compared to contributing to the world around you. You make difference on the ground, not over the phone.

Similarly, traffickers are not horror film monsters. They are abusers, they are sly. They will bribe and trick victims into thinking they have some semblance of childhood, that what theyre experiencing is part of life. They'll celebrate holidays, and have small moments of bonding. They will trick to gain trust. Theyre not fucking cageguards with a stick 9/10. They are neighbors teachers officers family they are NORMAL. FUCKING. PEOPLE. I cannot stress this enough. These people are PEOPLE, and thats what makes them dangerous. To call someone a monster and discount their humanity is to rid them of accountability. They are human. They chose to use their humanity this way. Dont twist it. Being human is not being moral. They use their victims to hide. Half the time victims will barely realize theyre victims of trafficking. A lot of times, people think its domestic abuse/sexual abuse and will try to get it handled as much. Trafficking is one of the sickest crimes because of how HUMAN it is. Humanity is intellect, and trafficking is a crime done with intellect, cunning and strategy. Hence its heinousness. It is one of the most cruel and calculative crimes, TREAT IT AS SUCH. It is a web, a conspiracy, and its roots run far. Watch the fuck out. Anything can be a down into trafficking. Unsolicited DMs, job offers, friend requests, any. Fucking. Body. its everywhere.
