For people who don't know: for several months now I draw one formation or fossil locality every Saturday. The next place we visit is chosen by a wheel of names, which we also constantly fill up again when a new formation is picked.
I try to make it as interesting as possible in my composition and choice of animals and I can tell you this series has been a great training when it comes to constructing these, how I call them, Menageries.
I have to thank a team of friends and colleagues who help behind the scenes with research, creation of size charts and conversation partners when it comes to deciding on the compositions of these pieces. Their help has been invaluable!

Gorgonichthys clarki
A late devonian placoderm with large fang-like dental plates on both jaws. Comparable in size with the more known Dunkleosteus, this predatory fish may have held on to prey better thanks to its hardware.

Deep in the ancient oceans, lurks the mighty Dunkleosteus. A bit of Blockbench paleo art from a little while back i never posted.
Based on the recent, more rotund, reconstruction of D. terrelli, still quite the fearsome beast!
Been some time since i did any paleoart so it was great to finally get back to it again!

Nautilus and Ammonite!
Millions of years (and quite a few branches on the cephalopod family tree) separate these two, but I love a spiral and a shelled sea creature no matter how extinct! Having fun playing with devonian sea life and more modern creatures--and sea sponges which haven't changed that much...

Deep Time Fishing can get rather dicey in the Devonian, especially with the devious Dunkleosteus!
