“You gonna turn into a monkey again?” I teased Toby.

"Come on, don’t call me a...” his voice trailed off as he stared at his body changing. Every month, it was the same thing -- he’d gradually ape out, spend a night as a dumb monkey-man, and then the next morning he’d be back to normal for another month.

“Your ears are looking pretty big, monkey,” I said.

“Stop,” he whined, reaching up to feel them. I laughed -- his arms were getting hairy, his posture simple and stupid.

“Such a monkey,” I said.

“I’m not a ... ook! I’m not a ook ook ook!” He fell back on the bed, grunting as the changes sped up.
