John sat down next to him, the soldier’s shoulder brushing lightly against his as if to apologize for it, but Bob tugged a small corner of a smile—the kind he didn’t even notice he gave. “Another one?” Walker wasn’t judging; the tone of his voice made that crystal clear, just like the damn blue of his eyes. “You know how it is—when you finish one, you pick up another.” Bob shrugged, the book resting in his lap so the title was visible, and he noticed John watching it with attention.

Summary:

In the midst of their chaotic lives as members of the New Avengers, Bob Reynolds finds solace in reading, often losing himself in books to quiet his mind. John Walker, a disciplined and attentive super soldier, notices Bob’s habit and, intrigued, begins to mirror it—buying and reading the same books to understand and connect with him.
