A STATEMENT REGARDING THE FANGAN:
Hi everyone. I just wanted to pop in right now because we’ve been growing a little bit concerned about some stuff we’ve been seeing online, and some comments that have popped up in the comments section of our teaser trailer
We, along with other fangame developers in our community, have been seeing comments about the recent downfall of Project: Eden’s Garden and the controversy surrounding its cancellation. We understand that this situation has significantly affected the community and how people perceive similar projects going forward.
That said, we kindly ask that you avoid comparing projects, especially newer ones like ours, to those that ended under these circumstances.
While we recognise that these events are still recent, such comparisons are just outright unfair and can be incredibly discouraging. This applies not only to our project but to others within the community as well, with Code Red being a fellow project that I’ve personally seen fall victim to this.
Even when said in jest, it isn’t funny to us.
To be entirely fair, we understand where these concerns come from. When several ambitious fan projects within one fandom collapse due to serious issues involving team members, it naturally leads to hesitation and unease. If this has made it harder to feel excited about future projects, we respect and empathize with that viewpoint, and we don’t hold it against anybody.
That said, the situations involving Project: Eden’s Garden and Tetro Danganronpa are not representative of Dungeons&Despair or any other fangame. It is unfair to associate unrelated teams with those incidents when they have no involvement. Even if you can’t accept this, I’d still hope people would have the decency not to leave that stuff as comments in our official material.
If controversy DOES happen to hit us we will deal with it appropriately and with the correct amount of seriousness and lethality necessary. But we haven’t done anything wrong as of yet. Please don’t let the failings of projects that we have no association with whatsoever besides being based on the same game reflect on us or give you a reason to spite us.
To provide reassurance, we want to be open about our approach. In response to these recent events, we have committed to thoroughly vetting everyone who joins our team. This includes reviewing publicly available online activity and taking steps to ensure that all members align with our values.
Additionally, if we ever find that someone involved in our project has acted in a harmful or inappropriate way following their admission, we will address it immediately. We will inform the community promptly ourselves and take all necessary steps to remove those individuals and their involvement.
I know that it’s easy to say this compared to acting, but rest assured, we are prepared to do this regardless of any negative impact on the project, as we place honesty, accountability, and the safety of others above everything else.
And also, sign the damn Faza petition if you haven’t already.
