BIG SECRET PROJECT REVEAL!
Over the past few months, I’ve been keeping myself busy with a lot of different projects. Between writing, working on art, trying to secure more stable work, and juggling a handful of smaller creative endeavors, it’s been a very full schedule.
Today, though, I finally get to share the biggest project I’ve been working on, now that the official announcement has gone live.
A big reason progress on many of my other projects has been slower than usual is because I’ve been putting most of my time and energy into this one. It became the main priority for quite a while, which meant keeping quiet about it and leaving a lot of people in suspense.
Even amidst my current crippling health issues, I’m really glad that I can finally talk about it properly.
To keep it simple...
...We made a Fanganronpa.
Danganronpa: Dungeons & Despair is a free-to-play, non-profit fan game created using RPG Maker. It takes inspiration from the Danganronpa series with a story placed in a fantasy world influenced by Dungeons & Dragons, effectively crossing the two franchises together.
In the game, players take on the role of adventurer Ezreal Pearl, a Paladin who, alongside eleven other adventurers, is kidnapped by a mysterious cult. Separated from the rest of their party, the group is forced into a deadly "game."
As is tradition for these types of projects, the only way to escape is for someone to commit murder and avoid being exposed during a trial, where the remaining participants must work together to determine who the culprit is. Except this time, we have a more magical flavour to the fun and death games.
The project itself is being created, directed, programmed, and led by my best friend Megacomet, who I’ve mentioned a few times on this blog before. My own role on the team is as the lead artist and animator, where I’ve been responsible for designing the characters and creating the in-game cutscenes.
Much like this one:
Similar to Danganronpa Antebellum: LOCKDOWN, we have a bit of a more contained game with a smaller cast, but each character is a different class and contain a variety of races and designs, all made by yours truly.
At the moment, the game is still in development, but the prologue is very close to being finished and ready for players to download. I will most definitely announce it when it's ready.
We’re also planning to launch a casting call page soon where people can audition to get involved with the project. In particular, we’re currently looking for voice actors, and potentially other artists who might want to contribute as well.
I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve put into this so far, and I really hope you all enjoy it too. Even if you’re not familiar with Dungeons & Dragons or how its world works, we’ve made sure the game is accessible so that new players can still jump in and experience a bit of both worlds.

Some News and Updates regarding myself and the fangan community. (+ Some Announcements for Hope)
//So I suddenly found myself with a lot of things I want to say! And I do hope you guys are willing to hear me out because I'm very passionate about all of this, and it's not all bad news or upsetting stuff.
//There is some there, obviously, because let's be real, the fangan community has been on fire in the bad kind of way lately. But me talking about it is something of an attempt to soften the blow, so please, please, PLEASE just read these thoughts. So long as someone hears me on this, it'll make me a happy camper.
//First of all, I want to say thank you all for sticking around and being patient with me during my pretty long absence from Tumblr. I know I sometimes disappear for long periods at random, and the truth is, I’ve been holding back on making progress here because a lot of my focus has been going into other projects; most notably ReCaptured and Dungeons&Despair. Both of those are getting very close to completion, and they’ve needed my full attention.
//That said, I wanted to check in. And, as has unfortunately become a pattern lately, I’m here to talk about more controversy. I know that’s been a big part of what I’ve been posting about, and I don’t love that either, but at the same time, I do feel like people want to hear my thoughts on what’s been happening, especially given how interconnected everything in this community is.

A STATEMENT REGARDING THE FANGAN:
Hi everyone. I just wanted to pop in right now because we’ve been growing a little bit concerned about some stuff we’ve been seeing online, and some comments that have popped up in the comments section of our teaser trailer
We, along with other fangame developers in our community, have been seeing comments about the recent downfall of Project: Eden’s Garden and the controversy surrounding its cancellation. We understand that this situation has significantly affected the community and how people perceive similar projects going forward.
That said, we kindly ask that you avoid comparing projects, especially newer ones like ours, to those that ended under these circumstances.
While we recognise that these events are still recent, such comparisons are just outright unfair and can be incredibly discouraging. This applies not only to our project but to others within the community as well, with Code Red being a fellow project that I’ve personally seen fall victim to this.
Even when said in jest, it isn’t funny to us.
To be entirely fair, we understand where these concerns come from. When several ambitious fan projects within one fandom collapse due to serious issues involving team members, it naturally leads to hesitation and unease. If this has made it harder to feel excited about future projects, we respect and empathize with that viewpoint, and we don’t hold it against anybody.
That said, the situations involving Project: Eden’s Garden and Tetro Danganronpa are not representative of Dungeons&Despair or any other fangame. It is unfair to associate unrelated teams with those incidents when they have no involvement. Even if you can’t accept this, I’d still hope people would have the decency not to leave that stuff as comments in our official material.
If controversy DOES happen to hit us we will deal with it appropriately and with the correct amount of seriousness and lethality necessary. But we haven’t done anything wrong as of yet. Please don’t let the failings of projects that we have no association with whatsoever besides being based on the same game reflect on us or give you a reason to spite us.
To provide reassurance, we want to be open about our approach. In response to these recent events, we have committed to thoroughly vetting everyone who joins our team. This includes reviewing publicly available online activity and taking steps to ensure that all members align with our values.
Additionally, if we ever find that someone involved in our project has acted in a harmful or inappropriate way following their admission, we will address it immediately. We will inform the community promptly ourselves and take all necessary steps to remove those individuals and their involvement.
I know that it’s easy to say this compared to acting, but rest assured, we are prepared to do this regardless of any negative impact on the project, as we place honesty, accountability, and the safety of others above everything else.
And also, sign the damn Faza petition if you haven’t already.
