hahhaa oh my crackfic

okay so in the sequel that I will probably never write because a) laziness and b) a billion other things to write, Derek does, as promised, stop by every few days to feed Stiles’s adorable vampire kitten. Sometimes Stiles brings her to the pack lair instead, because Erica and Bug are still total bros even after the whole ‘taking a chunk out of her face’ thing, and listening to the new, super-cool-super-sexy Erica babytalk to a kitten is pretty high on the list of things that make Stiles giggle like a schoolgirl, so. Derek is clearly Bug’s favorite, possibly even more than Stiles, and he would be super offended by that except that Derek feeds her. From his own body. Which kind of makes Derek Bug’s mom. Which also makes Stiles giggle.

angryonabus wanted actual scott-and-stiles adorable besties things and what i gave her instead was an excerpt from my thesis on the ~nature of werewolves~ which i guess was tangentially related to what desfinado said but

okay mostly i have a ton of completely ridiculous feelings about the boys growing up together and refusing to make other friends

when they were seven their parents sent them to the same after-school program, where the supervisors tried to split them up so they could learn to ~socialize~. stiles threw the worst tantrum of his tiny life and scott cried until he gave himself an asthma attack (the after-school was in a very dusty church basement with minimal air circulation), and after a week of this and daily reports of bad behavior to their parents the supervisors gave the fuck up

i could also talk to you about how when they were eight stiles went to melissa and demanded that she give him an emergency inhaler to carry for scott JUST IN CASE. stiles regularly forgot his pencil case, his notebooks, his lunch, his favorite teddy bear when his parents took him on vacation, and more often than you'd expect, the actual shoes off his actual feet, in the most bizarre places imaginable, but he never once went anywhere with scott without scott's inhaler on him

idk from other talks i've had i've come to feel like a lot of derek's failwolfing as an alpha comes from his being a werewolf from birth and having been raised among werewolves and therefore being utterly unable to comprehend where scott and his betas are coming from, especially that for people who were born and raised human, the kind of violence that derek uses to communicate on the daily is. um. terrifying. even when they know ~intellectually that their bodies are now near-indestructible. (also like i don't care if my body will heal from just about anything, I STILL DON'T WANT YOU TO BREAK MY ARM, DEREK, i don't learn well when i'm being terrorized)

er. so what i am saying basically is that i love scott's gentleness and his desire not to hurt people and his wish to avoid killing people (even when they are VERY VERY BAD people) at all costs. i don't think his kindness and protectiveness and capacity for love are weaknesses, and so much of fandom seems to think they are, and that derek's ~tough love~ coupled with stiles' ostensible ~know-how~ is what will make a pack strong

but i would much rather scott as a bb alpha with stiles as his second, trying to figure out what the hell is going on and fucking up lots and giving boyd and erica sanctuary and feeding them and their families (stiles is great at savory stuff but burns everything he has ever tried to bake -- there are still scorch marks on the mccalls' kitchen wall; scott thinks ~regular cooking~ is boring but asks for dessert cookbooks for his birthday)

and idk keeping themselves and their pack-family safe??? i don't think gratuitous violence actually has to be part of being a werewolf. my current theory is that most of the murderous tendencies on and around the full moon have more to do with fear and anger and helplessness against the pull of the moon than with any werewolf ~instincts~, which is why finding an anchor, something that makes you feel calm and/or happy and/or in control, works. i don't love the ~it reminds us that we're human~ explanation, because i don't actually like that kind of division between wolf and human being.

I can’t tell if I like you better with the shaved head you rock because it legit looks better than everything else or because you look SO MUCH happier with the shaved head. You have a killer smile.

Absolutely. As an adopted child I watch closely for this & don’t feel like I see it. Juno was interesting but about the process, not the kid.
