A Healing Spell for Depression
Items Needed: a white candle, a silver sword/knife/wand, a black marker, a fireproof dish, 2 sheets of paper, a piece of quartz, a piece of sodalite, oils for healing and herbs for healing*, and black salt*
*See another spell for the creation of black salt if you do not already have some. Healing Oils used for my ceremony were a blend of chamomile, lavender, and lemongrass, and herbs were eucalyptus, black pepper, and cashews, however all of these can be substituted to your personal preference and needs*
Create a Circle, or whatever kind of designated sacred space you may use for spell work. Lay out your workspace as follows: the candle on the left, the fireproof bowl in the middle with the knife and marker above it, the herbs and oils in a row on the right, and the black salt on the farthest right.
Once prepared for spellwork, begin by turning the white candle black with the marker. For added power, draw sigils of healing or protection before going over it with the black, just make sure you get most of its surface. After this is done, use one of the papers to document the negative things you want to banish. These can include events, emotions, or concepts that you feel contribute to your depression (or that of the spell subject). This is the beginning of your intent. Once you are finished writing, light the candle. As it burns, pour a layer of the black salt into the bowl. Be sure to save a handful of it for a later part of the spell.
Using your knife/wand/directional tool, write the target’s name in the air above the bowl (if the spell is for yourself, write your own name). Crumple up the page covered in your intent and place it in the bowl. Using the candle, light and burn the page. As it burns, imagine the flames sucking up the negativity, burning away at the things being battled. As it burns, speak these words:
Flame cut through depression, deep
Melt it down and make it weep.
Grant Me/(person’s name) power to re-emerge,
From it’s grip, I (they) will leap and surge.
While the candle continues to burn, assemble the positivity jar to full the gap created by what you just banished. Combine the herbs, oil, remaining black salt, and stones into its desired vessel. Also add white wax poured off from the melting candle. On the container, add your chosen sigils or talisman prints using the marker. If the container will not work for this, use the second sheet of paper. Draw the sigils on the page and add it to the jar.
Allow the candle to burn itself out, then the spell is complete. Place the jar somewhere safe. If the subject has a flare up, shake to recharge, re-infusing intent into the spell. It can also be gifted to the other person with the same instructions to shake for an extra boost.
Witch’s Notes:
*The usual statement about healing spells is, of course, more than applied here. Seek professional help first, and never use witchcraft as a substitute for medicine. This spell is not meant to cure depression, just to try and aid whatever therapy/meds someone is already taking. Being given the chance to banish the specific things causing the extra flare-up is also very useful, for instance if you are managing your depression decently but then have something difficult happen add extra stress, you can try to lighten the affects of these extra problems have on your illness and try to deal with them more healthily.
* If your black salt is made with raw charcoal instead of just ashes, you may want to add more plain salt or use an ash-based formula for this spell to avoid a fire hazard. High charcoal content could ignite under the flaming piece of paper
*The oils, herbs, and even stones used can all be substituted for whatever feels best for you, or what you have on hand, etc. Do your own research into things that you find are good for healing, relaxation, and positivity. These examples are just the best options that worked for me, and everyone is going to have their own set
*Lastly, this is a patchwork spell from a couple others I have found for basic healing, mixed together for convenience and to be specifically for depression. If anyone wants to know my source books, and what came from where, I can dig that up if you like. No one spell fit the needs I had, which gave rise to something more targeted to my needs
