#demisexual stuff

There is a lot of confusion both offline and online about what terms exist under the asexual spectrum, why asexuality is considered a spectrum identity, and what the words that exist within it mean and don’t mean. More specifically there is a lot of confusion about the words graysexual and demisexual, two identities that are housed under the asexual spectrum. Here, I hope to help you understand it better from my own demisexual/graysexual perspective, starting with the basics and then discussing the specifics of these spectrum identities.

There were too many that were about true love or "the one" but like, real talk, most of my life I've had to be okay being single, not being with my soul mate.

It’s like humor.  There are some things that I find funny, but they don’t make me laugh.  I still laugh, to communicate that I found it amusing, but I don’t actually have that reflex where I have to laugh.  And then there are things that do make me laugh, where if I don’t want to laugh it’s an effort to hold it in.

That’s what my sexual attraction is like, honestly.  Like, there are people and characters where I’m all “HOT DAMN” but it’s like the laugh that I use to communicate something is funny to me.  And then there are people with whom I get emotionally invested and I feel attraction to them down in the pit of my stomach.  And it’s such a strong feeling that it’s actually almost unpleasant, it makes me feel a little nauseated honestly.
