Since I can't have a pet rat of my own, I've been sponsoring a Hero Rat named Ronin who detects old but still active landmines in Cambodia. He recently died of old age (RIP lil dude 🙏) but during his life as a mine-sniffing rat, Ronin detected 111 landmines and 16 items of unexploded ordnance, and was recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records for Most Landmines Detected by a Rat. Overall he helped to clear 232,060 sq meters of land in Cambodia, which is the equivalent of nearly 900 tennis courts.
Anyway, US Congress is currently deciding whether to maintain funding for demining programs like the Hero Rat program, so I'm encouraging you to write to your reps if youre in the US and urge them to continue funding the program!

Despite ongoing power cuts, Prevail managed to start training 60 members of KORD (Rapid Operational Response Unit) from the National Police of Ukraine. Students take classes on recognizing mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), explosive theory, and self-extraction from mined areas.
If you wish to support Prevail's efforts in demining and training, consider tossing them some currency. They also have a BuyMeACoffee.
Follow Prevail on Bluesky or Chris Garrett on Twitter. Chris is the chairman and EOD ops manager for Prevail. Also, Prevail is Protect a Volunteer approved!

The sappers discover and neutralize hundreds of explosive objects in Ukraine daily. Nevertheless, 673 civilians have already been injured due to explosive items detonation. The farmers cultivating the fields to produce grain from Ukraine worldwide are in the most extensive risk zone. Help Ukrainian farmers continue their work by donating to our fundraiser with the Come Back Alive Foundation to purchase new metal detectors for Ukraine's demining. November 3rd marks the day to celebrate Ukraine's Engineer Troops.
They do many tasks such as engineering reconnaissance, demining an area before an assault, construction of defenses and sapper structures, pontoon crossings, and more. They clear mines and debris and help ensure the movement of troops.
