Jamie stared down at notebook, a pen in hand; looking for any words to come out onto the paper to explain how he felt at the moment. He sat in shorts and a baggy T-shirt, even if he was a tad cold.
Itās almost as if he thought his hand would just do the writing itself, and magically, he would have the answers as to how and what he was feeling all explained to him, in a nice, neat, short essay.Ā Ā
Ā But thatās not how feelings and emotion and all that worked, was it? No, of course not...that would be too simple.
Youāre an idiot. He thought to himself, slamming the pen down on the desk, leaning back in his chair and rolling his eyes.Ā
Ā Why did mundane life have to be complicated at times? He never imagined dealing with basic mundane emotions would be so.... exhausting. He scoffed at himself.
Just like a human.
The self-thrown insult made him irrationally angry; and the fact that he knew his anger was irrational only served to make him more irritated.
There was a pang of emptiness that he felt- for so many reasons. First of all, dealing with people. So many people. Granted, he could tolerate some of them, and Dorothy was one person he could say he actually liked, but talking to peopleā¦.opening upā¦.it wore him down.
Ā Second, was the subject of his mother; but that was an entirely separate matter that couldnāt even be logically dealt with right now.
Emotionally taxing. Where could he even vent these thoughts? For the love of the Goddess, he couldnāt even put it on paper. Much less put it into words for a person to hear; no, he didnāt want a person to hearā¦.what would they think of him, then? Weak.
You mean, what would you think of yourself? He chided himself, and he growled a bit.
Whatever. This is why he tried not to stay up too late when he didnāt have anything to distract himself; letting his thoughts just run around and get the best of him made him irrational.
Ā He flopped down onto his bed, grabbing a pillow and holding it close.Ā Ā
Once she had talked things out with Lest, and at least started to talk things out with Lyric, that left one person she still needed to talk to. If they were indeed back in town, as the gossip girl blast had indicated.
Although she knew where he lived, she figured it best to check the church first. He might not appreciate her showing up at his home unannounced, and Jamie tended to spend a lot of time at the church when he had free time. Hopefully her instincts werenāt wrong.
As she headed to her safe place, she couldnāt help but wonder what she was even going to say to him. It wasnāt likely he would have read the gossip, but he had been one of her closest friends before heād disappeared. One of her only friends, really.
The thought made her feel nervous, as she hadnāt really known how she felt about Jamie before he left, but she had been devastated when sheād found out heād disappeared. Maybe that was why she was always so eager to bring troubled people home these days, now that she thought of it. But now, she really didnāt know what to expect from him. He hadnāt said anything before he left, and she had so many questions for him that she was sure she would never even end up saying out loud.
Once she had arrived at the church, she let out a nervous breath before striding inside. And although she had come here for this very purpose, she still felt her breath catch when she saw that her friend had indeed returned.
Lyric had been in a complete daze since the Moon Viewing holiday, and everything in his life had turned into a complete blur--unless it had to do with Dorothy.
So when he happened to overhear a conversation in which one of the people involved was referred to asĀ āJamie,ā which Lyric recognized as the name of one of Dorothyās friends.
Taking off after the other man, Lyric waved energetically.Ā āHey!ā Before stopping in front of him, flashing a bright smile.Ā āJamie, right? Dorothyās friend?ā
This was the place? Train wreck didnāt begin to cover it, but he was going to assume whoever owned the place was in the middle of re-decorating. Why they would re-decorate with that shade of paint he wasnāt sure. Whatever was under the coat surely wouldāve been better than that.Ā
But he wasnāt here to critique the paint. He was here to meet a potential client. Vaughn made his way to the house, careful to avoid the newly dug flowerbeds and fresh paint. At the door, he knocked, then waited, arms crossing over his chest.
A short girl with violet hair opened the door. He assumed this was Jamie, who heād spoken to over the phone the other day.Ā āMiss. Demetra? Iām Vaughn Burace.ā He held out his hand to shake Jamieās.

[š] ā With the typical Arcadian tradition of having at least one monster or pet in oneās home, Georgiaās pet shop got quite a bit of business. Even more, now that she was starting to sell farm animals and horses that she bred on her own ranch.
...Her own ranch. Sunset Ranch. Georgiaās ranch.
She giggles. Even after all this time, she still couldnāt believe that that beautiful piece of land was hers. Just thinking about it put her into a good mood, and she canāt help but hum as she walks over to check on the kittens. They were the ones from one of the newest litters, and so werenāt ready to be adopted yet. But she knew that once they were, these little cuties would make whoever their new owner was the happiest person in the world.
Just then, she hears the sound of a bell ring throughout the relatively quiet shop, and glances up to see a person (with one of the strangest hair colors sheās ever seen) standing at the entrance. Putting on her most welcoming smile, she straightens up to greet the stranger.
āHiya, and welcome to Barleyās Animal Shop! What can do ya for, hun?ā
Jamie didnāt go out much- especially in the daytime, aside from on his own farm. He preferred the solitude of night for many reasons; one of those reasons other people not being around to bother him.
But today, he had foolishly set out in the daytime in hopes of a break. He didnāt even have anywhere in mind- he was just wandering. That tended to calm him down the most for some reason.
Naturally he avoided as many more populated areas as he could, and he growled a bit under his breath if someone got too close.
He decided to head towards the port- he didnāt go towards that side of the island very often.
However, as he was walking someone came crashing into him from behind, causing him to let out a girlish yelp; he easily was mistaken for a female at times given his androgynous appearance, which honestly he didnāt care about. But what he did care about was when someone practically barrelled into him and then had to hear his pitiful sounding screech.
In a moment he whipped around, his crystal eyes blazing with an icy fire. āWhat the hell was that for?! Can you not see when someone is walking in front of you?!ā He hissed, half embarrassed that he had reacted with a scream in the first place, so a light dust of red spread across his cheeks.
Dorothy couldnāt believe she had gotten herself into this. Working two jobs had been hard enough, let alone becoming the boss of one of those jobs. She felt like she never got any time away from work these days, and the girl sighed as she hugged Fern to her chest. She was tired already, and she still had to work a shift at the church. She hoped she could keep up this pace without burning herself out.
As she neared her second place of business, she spotted a rather familiar coloured poncho. She didnāt speak to Jamie very much, but he was hard to miss. He had a mysterious air about him, and he tended to keep to himself. However, he not only came to the church often, he also lived in the same building as her.
Normally she would have nodded her head and kept walking, but it seemed like he was actually headed in the same direction as her, and she didnāt want to seem rude either.
As she found herself falling into stride next to him, she glanced up at him nervously and offered a rather bashful smile as she finally whispered,Ā āG-Good afternoon, Jamie. Uhm... A-Are you... P-Perhaps going to th-the church today...?ā
She hoped she wasnāt going to bother him by talking to him. He wasnāt exactly the friendliest person in the world, but then again, who was she to judge? Dorothy wasnāt exactly known for being friendly either.Ā
